Transmission fluid is added in the dipstick via a specially shaped funnel. On newer cars the transmission is sealed and is a bit more tricky but you don't have that problem. You can get the funnel at any parts store. The type of fluid you need should be written on the end of the dipstick. I hope this helps!

My husband changed the transmission fluid in my 2006 mercury Monterey he put in 7 guarts of fluid after wards and its not even showing on the stick does this sound right?

He either added the trans fluid to the engine oil or he is checking the wrong dipstick. CHECK THE ENGINE OIL LEVEL to see that the trans fluid is not in the engine. If the engine oil is full of trans fluid, do NOT START the car and now you need to change the engine oil and also add the trans fluid to the trans. If engine opil is ok, be sure to find correct dip stick for trans fluid. They should be marked accordingly.

Why was the transmission fluid milky in color on my 97 blazer

Water mixed into trans fluid or oil will cause a milky appearance. Either there is a bad seal on the trans and you drove thru flood waters or the heat transfer pipe for the trans that is inside of the radiator has failed. Don't drive!!! Have it towed to a trans shop and have them check it out or you may be replacing the entire trans.

Where is the transmission fluid temperature sensor on a mazda mpv 2001

don't know if your vehicle even has a trans temp sensor. if it did it would be located internally inside the trans pan in valve body. check your trans fluid level, color, and smell. worn trans fluid will cause trans shift issues. burned trans fluid is an indication your clutches are burning and slipping.

2002 envoy trans burned out second 1 just melted

Transfer case fluid is different from the trans fluid, transfer case takes a Blue fluid made by G.M. can't think of the name of it, and trans takes Dex III or IIII read manual, if it is getting to transfer case then you deal between the trans and transfer case is bad causing it to **** the fluid out of trans, need to change the seals this time. Car Quest sells a 1 piece seal that seals both units instead of 2 different seals. Good Luck

2003 acura mdx leaked all the transmission fluid out through the radiator and now it wont shift into gear?

It does not have any fluid to work with. You also burned out many of the internal transmission components if you drove it until it was dry. If the fluid just poured out onto the driveway, then keep the vehicle off. Remove the radiator and fix or replace it. Refill the trans with proper type of fluid.

If the trans and radiator fluids mixed, which can happen if the radiator tanks leak between chambers, then your trans is corroded inside. The radiator can be tested if you can not tell by looking at the Antifreeze. The bottom radiator tank is suppose to be separate and as long as it leaked on the ground, the 2 fluids did not mix.

Your biggest problem now is to determine whether the trans is any good without spending money to fix the radiator. If you take out the Radiator, some places will test it free. Ask them about whether the 2 fluids mixed.
It will be key to knowing the worst case condition.

Your trans fluid oils all the bearings and bushings and pumps inside the trans. If the engine is not turning, the trans will not burn out its parts. If the engine is idling, the trans will burn out without fluid.

I attempt to give the cheapest Solution to your problems. You can only test the Radiator separately by removing the radiator or having the vehicle towed in. There is no way of knowing if the trans was damaged until fluid is restored to the trans. If the 2 fluids mixed, it is a bad thing. If the 2 fluids were not mixed, then it is better for the trans, but bad things happened to the trans without having fluid in it. Sorry I can not give you better news.

Hello
What happened is the tube that goes thru the radiator sprung a leak and coolant is getting in the trans and visa-vera so the answer that you got is 100% correct. But you have to change trans fluid and coolant and do NOT drive or you will be buying a new trans. Thanks

Is there any thing othert than chainging tranmission fluid reguarly to help transmission life on 1997 chysler concorde

if you never changed the trans fluid yet, don't
the shavings that are worn mixed with the trans fluid must be retained in your trans to keep the trans shifting smoothly
I have seen plenty of people changing there trans fluid for the first time with 50,000 miles then the trans will slip
