Possibly broken timing belt. Remove timing cover to check camshaft gear timing marks. If you need instructions, please let us know.

Starter motor or fly wheel problem

The starter is not engaging with the flywheel, sounds like teeth missing on starter ring gear, when you move the car in gear, you are turning the engine, so repositioning the ring gear and then it starts. The starter needs to come off and inspect the gear on the pinion and you should be able to see the ring gear through the starter mounting hole, (you will have to turn engine to see all of it). If it is a worn ring gear, it's gearbox out and a new flywheel. Good Luck.

Starting problems

I am guessing that you have a problem properly engaging the starter pinion into the ring gear to start the engine Check the starter pinion for correct adjustment and check pinion teeth for wear. Check the ring gear for wear from where the pinion fails to engage properly before spinning.

Smokes bad on start up but after a few mins it clears and theres no smoke at all, but it have started to miss.been to its oil seals or oil rings ? is this a major job, and have the engine got to be...

Sounds time for a overhaul, , The oil is burning up you may try a can of restore to help it . This stuff really works good. It will clean your engine and may free yo your ring's. Worth a try befor the exspenive overhaul. You can just replace ring's however as long as you got apart just as well do it all and save the problems later. Good luck to you. Thanks for using Fix Ya.

I just bought this tempo it starts but after i have been driving for about 20 min it starts to smoke and it starts to get hot it stops then you hav eto get a jump to start it.

It sounds like you have brought a lemon as if it hard to start when cold then its lacking compression which is worn engine piston rings and valve guides, and if it starts smoking when driving and if its BLUE smoke then its bad piston rings And if its BLACK smoke then its to much petrol getting into the engine which will also cause the engine to wear out quick as its washing the bores with fuel instead of oil,and that will also stop the engine from starting when hot,
SO if its BLUE smoke replace the engine
If BLACK smoke repair fuel fault.

Grinding noise immediately after start up - (starter engaged?)

Sounds like your starter is slow to disengage , but I would check with someone who is handy with cars , not necessarily a mechanic , just someone who can confirm your assessment and my suspicion. If that's the case , you might have to replace the starter. This problem could damage the ring gear on the engine which would be a lot of $ to have replaced.
