Have you pressure tested your rad cap? It may not be holding the proper pressure. Also, is the rad in good shape? Are the rad fins in good shape & is the coolant in the system circulating properly. It is possible the new water pump impellor is slipping. When engine is cool, take rad cap off & start the engine. Check for coolant circulation in the rad when thermostat opens. Is it flowing freely without restriction? Top off the coolant again , you may have a vapor lock. Hope this helps. Good luck!

No heat coming from the vents.

If it is a manual system--sounds like coolant low ie: air bubble in system. If it is ATC system, Check Codes, if no failure codes, coolant may be low--air bubble in system--most Durango's have air bleeders in system.

Have a 96 Buick Park Ave. In Aug I changed the thermostat because the temp gauge showed the motor was running cold. nothing changed. In Sept I had the water pump replaced because it started leaking. M

Is your 3800 producing normal heat? If so, the temp sensor is probably bad...If not, try replacing the radiator cap...if your system has air trapped inside, it usually runs hot, not cold...the heat is the key to functioning properly for you...Your radiator is a 4 stage huge system that normally cools very well...if you have heat, I still think your temp sensor is bad...ask to see one at your parts store, will help you to locate it. Hope this helps.

1996 jeep cherokee temp gauge reads hot 10 mins. after start-up

If you have a viscous fan hub then have it replaced as it is not drawing air through the radiator at idle or slow speed (crawling traffic). Check that are no air locks in the system as they will cause heating problems.

I have 1989 s10 blazer with a 4.3. I have replaced the water pump, thermostat & belt,it still gets hot by the dash gauge it says the temp is 225 is that normal temp?

The normal temp should be between 195 and 220 degrees. 225 is not bad but does seem a little on the high side. Do you see this temp at idel and then it cools down as you drive or do you see this temp all the time? If you see it all the time after the engine is fully warmed up it may be the gauge is a little off or the trump sensor may be a little off. If you see it at idle and then it cools down while driving than you possible have a bad fan clutch. Another possibility is that you have bunch of debris that has built up in front of the radiator on the outside. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Thank you for using FixYa.com!

1998 Saturn Wagon 2 For the last few months my car cooling system seems to be running hotter than normal per the dash gauge. For years and even the the summer the temp gauge would never get over 1/4. I...

I would do a sniff at the tail pipe to make sure you are not pumping coolant out the exhaust pipe.
sound more like a bad gasket than a bad water pump to me.

When in an idle position for a long period of time the engin heats to max..as soon as I accelerate it goes to normal tempature

Heating up while idling for long periods is normal, so is cooling a little when accelerating as the water pump is moving the water a bit faster. As long as it drops to normal temp when in normal use it is ok, if it overheats either your thermostat is faulty or your electric fan is not coming on when it should. Does the elecrtic fan ever come on?

1996 Jetta appears to overheat but no coolent loss

the temp sensor is the trigger for the fans!!
the thermostat may be in upside down??
check new thermostat in a pot of water & heat it up watch that it opens up when it heats up should be at aroun 96 degrees F
otherwise the radiator may need a good clean out or a recore!
there my be a blocked water gallery so engine may need a flush aswell
Cheers Rob

Temp gauge on dash fluctuates up and down and stays at times red.

Check your cooling fans to insure they are working to cool the radiator...
