Hi there, answer to Q is it can be possible....Solution, do a compression test to check if all cylinders have same compression ratio.

Low compression in #8 cylinder


Sounds like you have a blown head gasket. Check the oil and see if you have water in it or it is overfilled on the dipstick if so you have a blown head gasket. The other option is to check the tail pipe and see if water is coming out of it. How low is the compression on #8 versus the other 7 cylinders. You can also look at the plug on #8 and see if it is firing. Usually the engine will miss or loose power if the head gasket is blown. Good luck.

1998 camaro 3.8 not firing on # 6


Pull plug #6 out and inspect the color of the plug.
Oily plug = broken oil rings
(DOES IT BLOW BLACK OR BLUE SMOKE)
Head gasket will cause low to NO compression


Check for coolant loss and white smoke.
This is the sign for blown head gasket.

Compare compression to other cylinders.

I have a 2005 hyundia sonata 4cylinder that has oil in the head when I pull out the spark plug. it is also miss firing 190,000 miles


usually its a head gasket if not valve seals if the oil in the head is creamy thats antifreeze blown head gasket if it got to hot it will worp the head needs to be machined before you put it back together or worn out piston rings

What's the difference between a blown head gasket and a blown intake gasket?


The head gasket goes between the block and the head, and seals the combustion process, and cooling water, and (if oil is pumped obove the heads to valve components) oil pressure.

Intake gaskets seal between the intake manifold and the head, and seal against intake vacuum, and in many cases, coolant.

A badly blown head gasket will so destroy compression in the cylinder that you can hear uneven cranking as that cylinder comes up on compression, kind of a “whir, whir, WHIR, whir, whir, WHIR, whir” with the capitalized whir being the engine spinning much faster due to no compression holding the starter back.

You will never be able to hear a problem with an intake manifold gasket until the engine actually starts to fire and/or run.

I just replaced the intake gaskets on my 2003 pontiac grand am , but when I went to fire it up it was still running like **** come to find out the head gasket on cylinder 3 is blown or the head is cracked....


theres an easier way to fix a blown gasket, its called seal-up you pour it in your radiator and it chemically welds it back together look it up on google most auto shops sell it or something similar, but replaceing the gasket is the best way

Check the exhaust for white smoke. Also, while the car is running, check the oil dipstick. If the oil on the dipstick is frothy like a milkshake, this along with the white smoke are indicators of a blown head gasket.

Waterpump went out and engine got real hot and blew upper radiator hose replaced waterpump and hose now it wont fire


It is very likely the overheating has blown the cylinder head gasket and coolant is getting into cylinders or compression is leaking from cylinder to cylinder or both, you will need to remove the cylinder head and have it checked for warp-age and shaved flat by a machine shop if ness, and replace heat gasket.

your radiator could be leaking or your head gasket could have blown out inside the cylinder, then your coolant would leak into the cylinder.
