Have the battery tested at autozone
check the Alternator at autozone.
The serptine belt could be slipping, due to a weak tensioner, or badly worn belt

Good luck

( i hope you never need ball joints for this car--Ouch )

If this is a problem with it dying while you drive then it is an alternator problem, but if it is a problem with you coming back to the car in the morning or something and it is dead then you should check the date on your battery and you probably just need to replace it.

I have a 2003 x type I cannot get into the car the battery is dead

Two ways

Look at this video. There is a secret keyhole in the trunk lip outside. Put your remote key into it and open the trunk. One in there you can find a light connector and attach a battery charger to it.

Hi ,i have s type jaguar. my battery gone flat and i cannot openthe booth at the back ,manualy or by electric. how to open the booth please

You can use one of the plugs that go into the power point/cigarette lighter. Cut the end off add wire to reach a good 12 volt battery. Plug it in. This should give you power to open the boot with the switch.

When I jumpstart my jaguar x type it stops running when the jumper cables are removed

Your battery might be too flat to keep the car running.
Could be dirty terminals on your battery, or could be a bad cell in your battery, not holding charge. Make sure terminals are clean.

My 2002 jaguar x-type signal lights dont work and it goes dead while driving

Check the negative battery cable for corrosion. I would start by replacing it. Lots internal ground cable corrosion problems on the x-type. If you have a battery light on and the positive cable is very hot then you need to replace the pos. Cable also.

The long story short it probably your battery being dead or a computer glitch (if there is nothing else apparently wrong with the car)
One is the battery life of an older model jaguar is going to be short compared to newer models. I noticed I have problems with my battery going dead around the 6 th year of the cars life since then a bunch of silly issues. One thing to know is if your car doesn't start it (even if your lights work) is that your battery is to low for the ignition to work (which requires high voltage). You can try removing the batter than re attaching it back to the car.
I have these issues typically when i don't drive for long periods of time in the winter (mostly). The car contains a big gigantic computer (which a lot of owners do nt realize) controlling everything weather you can start the car or not (it has a security system still armed) so when the computer is not working properly or the battery is too low (and their are no other apparent reasons). I would suggest trying a few suggestions on the jaguar forum because its very specific but you would be surprised how stupid the issues end up being. Flat bed a jagaur to any dealership and your already in the hole for 150 plus.
good luck

Starting problems in Jag x-type 2002

Just had this same problem, starter was ticking but not turning, would start with jump leads but no sign of a flat or faulty battery. Garage I took it to replaced starter and alternater got £270 charge then when I got it back it happened again the next day!
Since found out that it was simply a dodgy connection between the battery and the starter.
