Question about Dodge Neon

1 Answer

My car already feels like its stuffed up. But the dashboard vibration sound is really out of control. I had two of the motor mounts replaced about a month ago, and that didn't help it. I am getting a mifire code fixed right now as i speak. They say the vibe noise is the mounts, but dang i just got them fixed. So they told me totkae it back where I got them fixed.

I have an 05 neon and I replaced three of the five mounts on this vehicle myself. I thought that was all of them. I called my mechanic and said there were others. We put it up on the rack and checked the one between the engine and wheel well and the one attaching the trans to the motor. Both were in good shape. My vibration is all the time, idling, or stopped, and it does not change when changed from forward to reverse. Think mine is electrical, sensor related in some form or fashion.

Would need a little more detail but it sounds like it could be motor mount or possibly tranny mounts depending I Where you feel the vibration a good test confirm motor mounts is to put into drive with hood open have someone stand to the side of vehicle hold down brake and slowly rev engine you should be able to see engine move a little bit of movement is ok but if it is excessive the It is more than likely the motor mounts

Motor Vibrates

IF your ****** was removed and re-installed there is a good possibility that there is a problem withe torque convertor. either it is not installed or seated properly or the weight block welded to it may have come off. Also your flex plate ( the part that your torque convertor mounts to) may be warped or bent during re-installation Hope these ideas help you out..

1995 toyota camry 2.2 engine vibration on accelleration

It does sound like engine mounts. Did you put it in neutral and rev the engine sharply up and down to see if you can spot a broken mount? The front centre lower mount on the V6 especially is hard to pinpoint, as its only sign of failure is leakage.

My upper dogbone on the V6 failed, and I found that it meant at least one other mount was also stuffed.

Vibration when accelerating when you let off gas it stops already replaced tires and ball joints and alignment

Might want to check your motor and transmission mounts.. do this by turning the car on holding the brake and shifting the car into Reverse... with the brake pedal still pressed, try reving up your motor a few times and feel for a thunk noise do the same thing in drive.

I have a 2004 alero and when I press on the brakes to stop at a red light or stop sign a vibration occurs and it's loud but when I put it in park it stops vibrating. What can I do about this problem?

Sounds like you have warped rotors and or a lose caliper mounting bolt . When you stop do you feel a vibration in the brake peddle or in the steering wheel or both ? IF you feel the pulsation in the brake peddle I would suspect a brake pad / brake rotor problem . Now if you do not feel it in either and the vibration is through the whole car with out the brakes being applied i would think it may be related to and engine/drive line problem (motor mount /trans mount /axle problem)

I have 2002 Exscort zx2 and I have replaced all the motor mounts but I still have vibration in the steering wheel, only when Idle though what could be causing this vibration? My mechianc has looked at it...

This is normal on the automatic transmission ZX2. Ford has put out a TSB about it and they only explain that you can adjust the mounts but no one that I know that has had this done said that it worked. These engines are internally balanced and at lower engine speeds, the vibration gets transferred into the car and the driver feels this. Unless it vibrates really bad in park or while driving, what you feel is normal for this car. I currently own three of them and all of them do it. A friend of mine has had three and they all do it. It isn't as bad in the manual transmission but all of the vibrate a lot.

Check the idle control system, also check if all the injectors are working. Provided you already changed the spark plugs.

Vibration through the car Transmission-motor Linkage?

Check to make sure both headlights are tight,,,when it rattles at idle go feel the headlight and hold it and see if the noise and vibration goes away, sometimes the headlight has too much clearance and causes a massive vibration,,if thats not it try...loosening all the motor mounts and rock the car back and forth and them retighten them,it reseetles the mounts and sometimes fixes the issue,,also check the lower engine and trans mounts for wear.
