Try getting the codes pulled at a car parts shop. Usually the computer will keep it in its history. It sounds like it is an ignition problem. If there is no stored code I would look at things in this order: spark plugs, ignition wires, distributor/coil. If none of these seem to be the problem you may have to take it to a shop. If it was just the start and idle problem I would say it is something with what I said but that high RPM thing seems strange.

How do you reset idle on a 1993 Chevrolet Euro 3.1 after you have changed battery?

Reset the IAC valve a follows:
1 turn the ignition ON ( engine off) for 5 seconds.
2 turn the ignition OFF for 10 seconds.
3 start the engine, then check for proper idle operation.
This is straight from the manual, I hope this hopes you.

2003 Ford Mustang GT. Car won't start.

In the trunk behind the carpet on the drivers side there is a fuel system re-set switch. With the ignition off push the re-set button then turn the ignition to the on position for a few seconds then turn it off to re-set it.

Automatic gear shifter has become stiff - harder to move

put the car on jackstands or drive it onto ramps, take som carb cleaner/engine degreaser and spray the the little linkage on the side of your tranny, then work it through the gears, don't start it, just turn the key ot the first notch and put your parking brake on, try this process a few times, if this doesn't help there may be bigger problems.

1993 ford mustang doesn't start

have you checked the ignition control module?? Are you pulling up any codes. The ignition control module is the little gray box that is attached to the intake manifold. If it is bad and is not sending the power to the coils it will not fire. If it is cranking over then it may be the module. If you have a check engine light that comes on. Then you need to pull the codes up to see if it is a faulty sensor or if your IDM(Ignition Diagnostics Monitoring) is good. If you get the shop manual from the local parts store you can pinpoint it with a digital multimeter to see if it is getting power to the module. If it is good then the module is shot. Most of the time it is the module.

You can get it at the local parts house too or order it..

i hope that this helps you out. If you have any questions feel free to ask. I have a 1993 Ford Mustang LX with the same engine.

One other note if it was the coils which is the little black boxes with the wires coming from them. If one was bad you could still get the car to start. It just would'nt start everytime..
