Apply tension to the belt until it is snug and has a live spring action when stuck with the hand dead center. For a more accurate deflection measure the distance from pulley to pulley and use 1/64th inch deflection per inch of belt length. For instance a 32" belt would require a deflection of 32/64" or 1/2". But saying all this I am confused. Your 1995 Corsica does not have a fan belt. The fan is electric. You car also has a serpentine belt which is self tensioning and not adjustable.

Replace the fan belt 2003 chevy tracker 2.0

Jerald, You will have to remove the the accessory belt first I believe by putting appropriate wrench on tensioner and pulling tensioner toward passenger side to allow removal of the belt. Then you will loosen alternator to let tension off fan belt and replace the fan belt. Reverse procedure to install. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

I cannot figure out how to reattach the serpentine belt on my 1995 4 cyl. corsica (that has a.c.)

the tensioner is a smooth (most cases) idle wheel rubber loaded mount that does not look like it does much, but does move with effort either by a 3/8's or 1/2 inch drive hole or a wrench on bolt attaching the idle wheel... important thing is finding routing of belt... should hav a scimatic of routing lable on radiator shrould

How to move tensioner on 1991 chevy corsica

The tensioner is the smooth pulley(back side of the belt,no grooves)
Think it's a 15mm bolt, just "tighten the bolt" and the spring loaded tensioner will move The pulley is steel on the 4 cyl, plastic on the V-6 The tensioner bolt is left hand thread so it won't unscrew when you realese the tension.

Where is the belt tension lever on a 1990 chevy corsica for installing an alternator

Your Corsica most likely has the 2.8 V-6...Look to the lower right side near the alternator...you should see an arm with a pulley wheel...you can use the socket end of your 3/8 drive socket wrench to release the belt tension, and remove the belt...the slot is near the middle of the tensioner arm...Hope this helps.

Diagram for fan belt repair

2.0L Engines
See Figures 11, 12 and 13
The accessory drive belt for 2.0L engines has no provision for manual belt adjustment, since these engines use an automatic belt tensioner. Drive belt slack is taken up by the automatic tensioner.
Movement of the automatic tensioner assembly during engine operation is not a sign of a malfunctioning tensioner. This movement is the tensioner self-adjusting and is required to maintain constant belt tension.
The belt tensioner has a belt length indicator. If the indicator marks are not between the MIN and MAX marks, the belt must be replaced.
