Possibly the throttle positioning sensor. If your check engine light is on, you can take it to Autozone and have them put it on their scanner and it will tell you what sensor is bad. I would bet that it is the tps.

Engine wont idle unless you keep your foot on the gas pedal

First, try a new accelerator pump. They're less than $10 and easy to install. On the side of the carburator, near the linkage. It's simple a small rubber diaphragm.

is your check engine light on? you may have a missfire meaning either a bad plug, plug wire or coil pack. if the engine light is not on, you may want to try changing your fuel filter, or possibly your fuel pump filters/ the pump its self.
