You ran the car a little...not sure what you meant by this.......
When you start the car from cold, you end up with a rich mixture...more fuel to air ratio...as the engine heats up (normal operating temperature) the fuel mixture will decrease in fuel and increase in air.........so the plugs are a little wet from the fuel mixture....this would be condsidered normal, but if the engine was hot/warm and they were wet, defineite sign of excessive or over-fuelling......
this could be caused by dirty air cleaner, stop-start driving, faulty coolant temperature sensor, just to name a few
Hello. It is not unusual to find raw fuel on the plugs since the raw fuel is constantly being injected into the spark chambers to be ignited. Joe
Hello
You will need to positively ID the nature of the spark plug deposits u have, they may be oil or fuel, both look the almost the same to the untrained eye. Please go to the link below and study the article and let me know what you think the deposits are, will bet they are oil. I personally use theis same link

U need to replace the fuel pump relay (green base/connector under hood) and check the fuel pressure, the relay is stuck on and the fuel pressure may be high, also do a fuel pressure leak down which would indicate leaking injectors, this is best run by a Ford dealer as it requires special testing equipment, the fuel pump relay being stuck on will not cause high fuel press, a leaking or defective fuel pressure regulator would, pull the vacuum hose off the fuel pressure on the fuel injector fuel delivery rail (goes over top of the injectors) regulator and see if gas spurts out.

1990 5.0L mustang, runs rough, dosen't want to idle, runs very rich, has good fuel pressure, I did noticed the fuel pump when you first turn key on and engine not running, the pump continues to run, normally it comes on for a brief moment and then cut off. After car has run a little and I kill it, it will not start, unless I wait about 30 minutes. I also noticed after pulling a few plugs they were saturated with raw fuel.
Well the plugs have the flat black powderery look on the bottom threads and ground strap, but if I take a plug out and hit the bottom portion of the plug in the palm of my hands, I'll get a gas smelling reside in the palm of my hand.
I have an after market fuel regulator and fuel rail, looking at the pressure guage it stays up 42 psi. I did noticed a lot of black powder exhaust on my cement from the tail pipe. I did change out the fuel pump relay.
1990 5.0L Mustang, fuel injected. The car runs like it's flooded even at idle, when I depress the gas and get up in RPM's it wants to miss. I checked the plugs all has a powdery black substance on them. I've got good fuel pressure, I've even checked the fuel pump relay, it seem to be ok. I don't know if the timing has anything to do with it running rich.
Joe, the other problem I'm having is the car is running very rich and as I depress the pedal, I noticed as the RPM's rise it wants to miss and also has a little miss at idle. Could it be the timing?
