P0441 what dose it mean and how can I fix it .toyota camery le 1998model

P0441 1998 Toyota Camry - Evaporative Emission Control System Incorrect Purge Flow

When is the code detected? Pressure in charcoal canister and fuel tank does not drop during purge control (2 trip detection logic).

Possible symptoms: - Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- Possible a noticeable fuel odor caused by the release of fuel vapors

P0441 1998 Toyota Camry Description: The Engine Control Module (ECM) tests the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) system for the following conditions:
- Large and small leaks

- Excess vacuum

- Purge flow during non-commanded conditions

- Fuel Level and Fuel Pressure sensor faults

- EVAP Purge and Vent Valve faults

The ECM monitors the Fuel Tank Pressure sensor in order to determine the level of vacuum/pressure in the EVAP system. The ECM commands both the EVAP Purge Solenoid and the EVAP Vent Valve ON when the conditions are met in order to apply an engine vacuum to the EVAP system. The ECM commands the EVAP Purge Solenoid OFF once the system has reached a predetermined level of vacuum. This test verifies if a vacuum can be achieved in the EVAP system. Failure to develop a vacuum may be caused by a large leak or a restriction.

I would like to know what the code PO455 on a 2007 Mitsubishi Endeavor means.

Possible causes
- Missing or loose fuel cap
- Incorrect fuel filler cap used
- Fuel filler cap remains open or fails to close
- Foreign matter caught in fuel filler cap
- EVAP canister or fuel tank leaks
- EVAP system hose leaking
- Fuel tank leaking
help.jpg What does this mean? Tech notes
The P0455 it's a very common code, because the code is set if the gas cap is loose or missing. Start by tighten the gas cap and clearing the code. In most cases the code can be clear by disconnecting the car battery for about 30 minutes.
help.jpg What does this mean? When is the code detected?
Evaporative Emission System (EVAP) control system has a very large leak such as fuel filler cap fell off, EVAP control system does not operate properly.
Possible symptoms
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- Possible a noticeable fuel odor caused by the release of fuel vapors
P0455 Mitsubishi Description
This diagnosis detects leaks in the Evaporative Emission System (EVAP) purge line using engine intake manifold vacuum. If pressure does not increase, the Engine Control Module (ECM) will check for leaks in the line between the fuel tank and EVAP canister purge volume control solenoid valve under the following vacuum test condition.
The vacuum cut valve bypass valve is opened to clear the line between the fuel tank and the EVAP canister purge volume control solenoid valve. The EVAP canister vent control valve will then be closed to shut the EVAP purge line off. The EVAP canister purge volume control solenoid valve is opened to depressurize the EVAP purge line using intake manifold vacuum. After this depressurization is implemented, the EVAP canister purge volume control solenoid valve will be closed.

How can I fix the problem for code P0455 - Evapororative Emission Control System Leak Detected (Gross Leak)?

The On Board Diagnostics have detected problems in the Evap System . A PO455 will be set during operation of engine coolant and air temp are within 10 degrees of each other and the fuel tank is between 15% and 85%. and monitors leaks using the fuel tank pressure sensor. After meeting the criteria it runs the test in 30 seconds. Now the hard part is finding leaks.#1 KEEP FUEL LEVEL in testing range #2 leak can be the gas cap Check how is seals against the filler neck and the gasket for tears #2 inspect filler hose for stains and loose clamps #3 inspect hoses from fuel tank to Evaporate Canister and then to engine compartment Any split or loose hose can cause a gross leak. Most Shops use a smoke machine and add where the green service port is located under hood the service valve is LEFT HAND THREAD so be careful not to strip out accidentally. After finding and repairing leaks clear codes by disconnecting battery or using code reader. let the car test itself a readiness screen on scanner will let you know if the system has passed its test.
