It's small, only an inch across so look hard. FRONT Wheel Drive: Check to the sides of your engine. REAR Wheel Drive: Check in back of your engine next to the firewall.

If the vehicle has a manual transmission there is no dipstick. When fluid is filled or changed. It is usually pumped into a removable plug on the side of the tranny until it starts to come out of another plug a little higher up on the tranny. In some older model you had a drain plug and a side plug. you would just fill it until it started to come back out of the side plug.

I hope helps.

How to check the transmisson fluid on a dodge journey sxt 2009

Hi, I will assume this vehicle has an automatic transmision, and a transverse mounted engine. If this is the case the transmision dipstick will usually be located under the hood on the passenger side of the car,
between the engine/trans. and the firewall. Some are on the drivers side based on exactly which drive train is in the vehicle. It will also usually say trans or something similar on it.This should be checked when the vehicle is hot running, in Park and on a level surface.
Hope this helps Vern

All trans to engine bolts are removed. engine mounts are free, engine still won't come out. I don't know what else could possibly be keeping it from seperating. Is it absolutely necessary to remove...

YES YOU MUST SEPERATE TO GET TO FLYWHEEL
THER IS TWO DOWEL PIN ONE PER SIDE TOWADS THE TOP OF THE TRANSMISION
PART OF ENGINE BLOCK THEY OFTEN BIT AND HOLD ON GOOD IF YOU ARE SURE THAT
ALL THE BOLTS OF THE TRANSMISION ARE UNDONE YOU SHOULD PUT THE ENGINE MOUNT BOLT BACK IN PUT JACK UNDER FRONT OF ENGINE HARMONIQUE PULLEY TO
STABILIZED MOTOR THEN WITH SECOND JACK AT REAR OF TRANSMISION JACK UP TO
START THE RELEASE THEN LOWER BACK DOWN TO RELASE TOP OF TRANSMISION
THEN WITH SUTIBLE PRY BAR BETWEEN ENGINE AND TRANS PRY APART UNTIL FREE
FIRST I WOULD UNBOLT TORQUE AND PUSH BACK IN TRANSMISION AND PUT A RETAINER TO PREVENT TORQUE FROM FALLING OUT OTHERWISE YOU WILL NEED TO CHANGE THE TORQUE PUMP INPUT SEAL IT WILL LEAK IF SEPERATED

Transmision fluid leaking

Hi, it sounds like the leak is coming from the torque converter seal. when the engine is running the converter is spinning and keeping it from leaking. check the front of the trans and inside of the inspection cover.

Check engine and transmision work bad

I had the same issue. Dodges tend to have some faulty transmissions. Usually it's not too bad. I had to replace my transmission valve body. Usually a sensor or solenoid go bad. Turn the key on/off three times and it will display a code. Google the code or take it to a shop.

How do i check my transmission fluid? for a 2000

Set the parking brake and put a block on at least one wheel. Pop the hood and find the Transmission dipstick. Start the engine and shift the gear shift into neutral. Pull the dipstick, wipe it with a clean rag, put it back in, pull it out and read it.

I have a 82 chevy caprice when I'm driving it will stop goin forward but the engine is still going strong

Check transmision oil level, Place car in park, hand break, open motor compartment and check transmision oil level with motor on idle. Good level?: transmision is bad, repare or replace the whole unit. bad level: complete and check for leakeges.

If you have a automatic it's with engine at operating temperature, shift through all gears. Check fluid level in PARK and add fluid as needed.
