Question about 2006 Nissan Murano

1 Answer

I have a 2006 Nissan Murano SL AWD, done 113k km. I had a steering fluid leak few weeks back.Nissan dealer diagnosed it as pressure hose leak.Options were to replace the hose ($ 750) or have it repaired by some one other than Nissan ($ 300). I opted for the latter being a cheaper option. The leak has stopped, but the steering has a vibration/sound on extreme right & left turn.initially we suspected rack & pinion problem, but this thing started the day th erepair was done , & tends to fade away at times, but comes back again. What could be the issue? & what is the solution

Sometimes air gets into the power steering system, and can cause noises.

often, the technician that installed the hose, could ensure all the air is out, by having the car up off the ground, and turning the steering full left and full right, while bleeding the system, as well as making sure that it has 100% fresh fluid too.

I had the same problem on my 06 Murano AWD with the infamous power steering hose leaking,. to save some money, had someone crimp a new hose to replace the the high pressure leaking hose on it. Well, the steering also had a vibration/sound on extreme right

Replace the hose with a factory replacement part and as Ichand1958 stated, turning the steering full left and full right, while bleeding the system and your good to go.

Why does ATF leak from power steering system?

Seals worn and leaking or hoses damaged or hose connections leaking or hydraulic rack leaking. Need inspection to determine exactly where the leak, then buy replacement part(s) and have installed...and replacement power steering fluid too and consider replacing the serpentine belt that drives it at same time.

Do 2008 nissan titan power steering pressure hoses have restrictors

You had leaking hoses replaced & now you
have other issues?

Some shop you went to

Sounds like it is low on fluid or the
pump is whining

When you can't take the noise anymore,
replace the pump

Have to use the correct fluid, maybe that
wasn't done as well

The Steering Rack may have failed from no
fluid changes every 3 years & that is your
restriction, not the hoses, rack may be bound

I have to replace my driver side rear brake caliper assembly but I am not too sure how to properly bleed the brake system to complete this successfully. Can some provide some assistance. My vehicle is...

first off make sure that the caliper you received is the correct one then remove the caliper bracket with the caliper then remove the bolt which holds the flex hose resecure it back on the new the same way you took it off, then put the brake caliper back on and once everything is back together then open the bleeder screw and allow the fluid to gravity bleed through the caliper, you will have to open the master cylinder resevoir cap so that the fluid can flow through the line and into the caliper, alow this to happen for a couple of minutes then close the bleeder valve and have someone get into the car and press down on the brake pedal while you open the bleeder valve again to get a steady amount of fluid to travel through the caliper. do this a couple of times to make sure there is no more air in the system only then could you put the tire back on the murano

I recently experienced the same symptom with my '05 Murano and it was not a fuel problem. The dealer listed the cause as dry axle splines and replaced both front drive shaft assy's. Note that this was done as warranty with no cost incurred by me.
