Be sure that the brake lever is coming up ALL the way. Sometimes even the slightest amount of pressure on the switch will activate the light. Also try a shot of WD-40 on the switch sliding pin.

Hummer H3. Wont shift out of park, key is stuck in ignition, will not turn on accessories or crank, break lights stay on. Removed interior carpet to apply herculiner. Any ideas as to what the problem

Many cars, I presume the Hummer also will not let you shift out of Park unless the Brake pedal is depressed. Most do this by an electronic interlock with the brake light switch. Yours is broke. Either the brake light switch has moved out of position or is defective, or your brake pedal is not retracting to the full off position.

Brake light stays on all the time.....

Stop lamp switch may be sticking or broken Follow the brake pedal to where it makes contact with the switch plunger...its probably stuck in the "brakes applied" position causing brakes lights to stay on If not that, then it may be a bad ground issue at the light bulbs themselves

Brake light stays on

The emergency brake cable could have stuck on enough to make the light stay on. Sometimes a little lubricant on the cables might help. Try setting and releasing the emergency brake a couple of times. I have even had to get under the car and tap the brake cable to release it fully.

Brake lights hava a mind of there own they come on when your driving . they sometimes dont work when you apply brakes and they stay on at times driveing down the road

First thing you need to do is check the stop light switch. This switch is connected to the backside of your brake pedal. Most likely you need to replace the switch. hope this helps.

Park break light stays on sometimes

Check the parking brake light switch which is located under the center module, remove the cover around the parking brake and you'll find it there.

The brake fliud resorvoir may have a sensor on it that is at fault. Also if the brake pads are getting very tin the light will stay on for the brake fluid is low if not filled. Fill the fluid up and see if the light goes off. The sensor if equipt will have two wires for a conection

Brakes squeeking

Try spraying the calipers and pads with brake clean usually the squek is from brake dust build up. The caliper slides are the only places where high temp. synthetic caliper grease is used try that as well.

VDC and BRAKE warning lights on dash stuck on

Two thing come to mind here since they do go off. Brake fluid could be low and the reason for this because you have very little brake bads left. maybe its time for a brake job. Since they do go off I wouldnt suspect a anti-locking brake issue. Either way you neeed to take it in. If you wait too long you will destoy other parts if indeed you need a brake service.
