Question about 2005 Toyota Tacoma

1 Answer

My vehicle battery is good, 2005 tacoma. But the engine will not kick over. This has happened in the past and I just had to press in on the clutch further, now it won't kick over at all. I'm sure it's a simple fix but don't know where or what to look for. Any help is appreciated. Mike Bouvy 360-335-1347

Hello there Mike,
It may be a couple of things but I would first check to see if the clutch safety switch is the problem. If your truck started before when you just pushed harder on the clutch pedal that switch may be the problem. One other possible thing is the starter, if you get under the truck and hit the starter with a hammer a few times (not too hard to cause more damage) to see if you unstick the gears inside. See what happens. Hope it helps. Brandon

Why does my tacoma fan coil make a roaring noise

If the fan is connected to the water pump, it could be a fan clutch problem. The clutch is not supposed to kick in unless the engine is hot.

I have a 2004 tacoma. When i park it on a slight incline hill and leave it in 1st gear (manual) and no emergency brake, it occasionally slips backwards. it kinda pulsates down ,stops and then again. It...

manual transmission clutches wear, making it necessary to adjust clutch pedal position, much like brake pads wear. Check your vehicle clutch adjustment by finding out if clutch pull point, or friction point is approximately I/2 the distance from all the way pressed to the floor and all the way released. does not need to be exactly halfway, but should be close. If the clutch release point is up towards the top vehicle clutch definitely will not hold completely, and allow vehicle pulsing roll. This will indicate clutch adjustment, or even require replacement.

How to change a clutch master cylinder on a 2006 toyota tacoma

remove line from the side of clutch master cylinder two bolts or nuts on firewall inside vehicle is a pin on the upper side of clutch remove and pull old unit out bench bleed new master by filling and pressing in on the piston of the master cylinder. if you dont have a hose fitting dont bench bleed bleed it in vehicle( this method takes longer) install back in vehicle and hook it all back up torque bolts to 25 ft lbs then bleed the slve cylinder from under vehicle near back of motor just like bleeding brakes pump up hold and release the line pressure by opening valve on slave cylinder.

2005 Toyota Tacoma Gearbox shifting loose and unable to shift up to 1, 3, 5 and R. Clutch seems good except for shifting gear.

You may possibly have a defective clutch slave or master cylinder. Get this fixed immediately as it will cause problems with the gear box.

A/C do not cool

start the vehicle and turn your a/c system to max air high fan. then lift the hood the a/c clutch should kick in to run the system, if it is not then check the power distribution box for a blown fuse replace if it is required. if the fuse is is good next step is to check the a/c clutch relay it is a small square block in that same power distribution box. switch the fan relay with with the a/c clutch relay if the clutch kicks in then the relay was the fault if it doesn't then that means there is not enough 134a refrigerant to kick the a/c clutch in. this could mean that the system is either under charged because of a breakdown in the refrigerant over the past 4 years or there is a leak in the system. in this case take it to a qualified a/c tech and have them recharge the system.
