When I start up my truck it makes a slight reving noise. The RPM fluxuates just a little. But it only started since it has been really cold.

Pretty typical in cold weather. Computer is compensating for the outside air temperature. It should slow down after it runs a bit. Mine does the same thing this time of the year. . .

Problems accelerating

the engine tickover is too slow when the engine is cold its running on cold start, ie:choke,, after it warms up the engine slows down this is what is causing it to stall in gear,, get some one to hold the brakes hard on and with the engine running in gear ajust the tick over till its reving at 750 - 850 rpm the revs will go up a bit when its out of gear,, before you pick a gear to go into push the foot brake down to stop the car lurching,,,

First thing I'd do is change the thermostat, as code number 17 indicates engine running cold too long. That will have an effect on how engine runs. The codes come in 2 digits, so you had, 12,17,11,55. 12 means battery has been disconnected, or has gone dead recently. 11 is a possible problem with distributor, but as long as engine starts and runs, I wouldn't worry about that one right now until I cured code 17, (engine running too cold.) Code 55 means that is the end of the message, so that's no worries either. After you change thermostat, have someone erase codes for you, and start over and see if check engine light comes back on, as well as see if engine doesn't run better then. If any more trouble, get back to me/us.
