You will have to find the belt tensioner it will be a pully attached to the engine that you will be able to move with a large pry bar or some have a spot for a socket ratchet to fit in so find the pulley and take the tension of the belt and remove make sure however that the diagram for routing the belt is still visible or make notes of where the belt goes the diagram should be on the radiator support or the under side of the hood remove the (-) battery cable find out where all the bolts that hold the alt to the braketts lossen bolts then remove wires on the alt remove bolts install opposite of removall.Hope this helps

Hqw do you replace the alternator on the 2008 hyundai veracruz

this is a very common issue with the 3.3 and 3.8 v6 hyundai engines. it is recomended that you reseal the valve cover with new silcone and a gasket during the repair of the alternator.
  1. Disconnect the battery negative terminal first, then the positive terminal.
  2. Disconnect the alternator connector (A), and remove the cable from alternator "B" terminal (B).
3. Remove the drive belt (C).
4. Pull out the through bolt and then remove the alternator (A).
5. Installation is the reverse of removal.

I have an 03 gmc sierra and i want to replace the alternator myself but i cant find the tensioner pully to loosen the belt.

should be right under the alternator and if its not the sometimes the alternator itself should adjust and act as a tensioner pulley, and if that's the case then your gonna need like a pry bar to get the belt tight again after you put the new alternator in.

Replacing alternater. jeep

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the drive belt.
  3. If necessary, remove any splash shielding for easier access to the alternator
  4. Tag and disengage the alternator wiring. It may be necessary to remove the alternator and mounting bracket from the vehicle as an assembly.
  5. If equipped, remove the front alternator assembly mounting plate.
  6. Unfasten the alternator mounting and pivot bolts and remove the alternator.
  7. If installing the original alternator assembly, push out the pivot bushing as illustrated.
These are the removal instructions per Chilton's Auto repair guide. Here is a link to help replace the drive belt when you're done. Just insert the year, make, model and engine to get the belt part number and the "Routing diagram".
Best of luck on your repair.

Alternator

You can also have your alternator repaired. Take your alternator to an electrician and have the coils re-winded. You can also do it yourself if you have lots of time.

I want to fix it myself b/c im poor-how?

It is very important that you know exactly what you are doing when you replace a drive-belt pulley! It is possible that if you get the timing wrong that your engine will fail! The alternator can be replaced with little knowledge but if your car starts and runs then there is no problem with the alternator nor the timing. If your belt looks worn down or has fray marks on it then i would suggest to change it. Also, unless the tensioner is cracked or broken there is no need to replace that.
