The solenoid relay is attached to the actuator? Code C0278 come up after vehicle reaches operating temp. So this means the whole actuator needs to be replaced?

  • canyunman Oct 05, 2010

when vehicle reaches operating temp Code C0278 comes into effect ABS solenoid relay circuit, transmission then does not operate correctly and speedometer begins to bounce as well then abs, brake, and tire pressure console lights begin to light up. Now does this mean the whole actuator needs to be replace and where are we going to find one thats not 1500.00

ok i dont want to seem stupid here but i need the relay location because this actuator doesn't look like it has a relay attached to it. i can understand the solenoids are....but a relay?

Here's a picture with all the parts and their location - the part you need is labeled A5.

Yes, the solenoid is a part of the actuator and must be replaced as a whole.

If the ABS system's controller/ecu is malfunctioning then the brakes are activated at random, giving you those effects you describe. In that case yes, it must be replaced.
A cheaper part will be available only second-hand, from a breakers yard.

The relay is soldered inside it, it's a small 12 volts reed relay - about 8x10x25 millimetres.

I just realized that we might be talking of different things:

    - an ABS relay is the small relay inside the ECU that controls the solenoids.
    - the ABS solenoids are electrically controlled valves that are inside the actuator - the big piece of metal with pipes sticking out of it. If one of them is defective you will have to replace the actuator as a whole.

Where is the location of flasher in Toyota sienna symphony

The Flasher is mounted high on the Firewall behind the dash. You need to get on your back on the driver's side floor to view and reach the relay.
Before replacing the flasher, check the turn signal fuse.
I hope this answer will help. Goodluck.

What is the relay starting part is mounted on the firewall (under passenger side windshield ) could b solenoid. ?

On older vehicles the starter relay is generally mounted on the top of the wheel well. You can identify it by the two main wires on either side. You can diagnose it by jumping the two wires. If it starts when jumped but doesn't by turning the key then it is bad.

Newer cars have a relay in the relay/fuse box for the vehicle. The location varies by make and model.

Where are the power window relays located? I checked the fuse box under the hood but none of them are labeled 'window'.

This circuit does not require a relay. It does have a fuse. the fuse box in the passenger area will have this fuse. this fuse box is in one of two places. If you have a small coin holder on the left hand side of the steering wheel check behind it, if not there look under the dash on the drivers side near the kick panel.

Location of relay and fuel pump toyota supra 1989 model

The fuel pump is in the fuel tank. The tank must be drained and removed to change it. the fuel pump relay is on the passenger side of the engine compartment. It is to the outside of the right shock tower next to a large fuel pump solenoid resister.

FYI: the circuit opening relay is in the passenger's kick panel fuse box. The EFI main relay is in the engine compartment fuse box.

Looking for horn fuse on toyota sienna 1998

Hello Edelways.
The horn fuse and the horn relay are in the left front under hood fuse/relay box.
This is a location diagram and the inside of the box. Sorry about the size of the diagrams. They don't allow us much space here. The fuse and relay should be marked in the fuse box lid.

Looking for location of fuel pump relay switch on a 1994 Honda Accord LX

Hi!!

Check for a 15A Fuse labeled FUEL PUMP on the cabin Fuse Box located in the front seating area, driver side, under dash, behind kick panel.

The diagram shows the Main PCM relay controlling the Fuel Pump, but it wont hurt to check the cabin fuse box under hood, passenger side, rear side of strut tower, mounted in fuse/relay box on firewall
Don't forget to rate this post, Good Luck!!!
