Might be your fan switch is bad. It's what sends the electrical signal to the fan relay, to turn the fan on when the engine heats up.

I keep shorting out also my coolant fan fuse?

Probably need to replace the fan motor itself. Check all the wires first, and make sure nothing is shorting out on the engine block or frame.

The cooling fan does not turn on when my 96 Chrysler Concorde when the engine gets hot...where should I look for the problem?

Somewhere around the flange of the engine cooling radiator is a thermostat that opens and closes a circuit for the fan, but first check the fuse box in the engine compartment and look for the engine fan relay fuse... Check it out first!

Hi i have changed the head gasket on my vw polo and now it is overheating on every journey the fan doesnt seem to come on any ideas what it could be as i have put new temperature sensors and thermostat and...

Hi Marie.

Test if there is voltage to fan motor with engine hot (use a test light or a Voltmeter). If there is 12VDC to fan motor and motor does not turn, then the fan must be replaced. An alternative way to test the fan would be energizing the motor by connecting it to 12VDC. If fan does not run when motor is energized, then the fan is defective.

If fan does not get power fuse, fan relay, thermostat and wiring must be tested. If you have already replaced thermostat, test the rest.

Check the fan fuse first. Most VW use a 30 Amp fuse located in the fuse plate. Refer to the car owners manual for fuse location. Depending on the year of your Polo there is a Coolant Fan Control Relay on the main relay panel. If the relay is good it must power the fan when the engine is hot. Before going for the relay check that two of the relay's contacts are getting power. If there is no power to the relay and fuse is good it means that there is a wiring problem.

Regards.

My 1995 Lumina is overheating all the time can only drive it a few blocks before heat gauge goes to the right all the way and hot light comes on. Had thermostat replaced and it seemed to help..for a...

When the heat gauge shows hot and the hot light comes on the cooling fans must come on therefore there is a problem with the fans. The fuses been replaced so that is ok just check if it is not blown again indicating a short circuit in the fans. If that is OK check the wiring leading to the motor if it is not disconnected somewhere. Look on the engine where the fan heat sensor is by following the wires from the fan and check the connection. Change the fan heat sensor as last resort.

How to fix the heater?

is it full of antifreeze? is your engine fan working? does it get hot with no cooling down? even when you turn engine off? with engine off!!!open hood, grab fan see if it has back and forth play,if so,,,fans bad or water pumps bad. some camaro's have an electric fan,you may only have a blown fan fuse,or a bad fan.check fan fuse 1st then if it does'nt work after you run the motor nad the temperature guage goes up, check the electrical connections, if you have a mechanical fan,you should be able to shake it, front to back, if there is play or wobble in the fan,it's bad! replace the fan and that will repair your problem. if not that, and it turns out to be electrical, fuses 1st connections next, thermostat next,,hope this helps, merry christmas, and as always please repost your question if your not happy with the solution i've supplied.

Don't worry about it,all seals seep, that is nothing but normal wear.unless you see where fluid has leaked out and hit the ground.
It sounds like a commission garage that he went to,and trust me they would just pressure wash those seepage's

IT COULD BE THE FAN FUSE OR FAN RELAY, IF THE FAN IS DRIVEN BY THE ENGINE TRY CHECKING THE FAN CLUTCH. IF THE FAN SPINS FREELY WHILE IT IS COOL, THEN WAIT FOR THE ENGINE TO HEAT UP AND SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AND TRY TURNING THE FAN BY HAND. IF THERE IS LITTLE OR NO RESISTANCE THEN REPLACE THE FAN CLUTCH. IF THE FAN IS ELECTRIC THEN REPLACE THE FUSE AND RELAY LOCATED UNDER THE HOOD IN THE FUSE PANEL. HOPE THIS HELPS. PLEASE KEEP ME POSTED. THANKS FOR AN HONEST RATING AND FOR USING FIX-YA. BEST OF LUCK.
