1998 ford Escort zx2 Heat is slow getting warm. Temp gauge barely registers. I have reaplced the Thermostat, radiator cap, blew out heater core. No heat when in idle but works once driven. What now?

Water pump. First make sure you have enough coolant and the reservoir system isn't leaking(or any leaks). Fords are hard to get air out of the system. I always over fill Fords because of air. It will usually purge out in a couple days. only getting warm at idle and hot going down the road is a water pump or something is still clogged up. IE.. heater core.

98 grand cherokee little heat.heater hoses hot top rad warm bottom is cold collant barely luke warm

While it doesn't seem likely, if you've changed, or had the thermostat changed.... I'd say you got a faulty thermostat. I am curious as to what your temperature gauge says the temperature of the engine and coolant is.. If your gauge is showing hot, I can think of two more possibilities... the water pump isn't pumping right... and, if the water pump isn't working right, the problem can be a cracked head or block, which can cause an airlock in the coolant system. Check the coolant or radiator cap.

I have a 1998 4runner the heat blowns warm and when i come to a stop it blows cold , replaced heater core & thermostat already.

I hope this helps!
The heater on most all cars is higher than the engine and water pump in particular.
Because air rises, if there is any air in the system it will rise into the heater.
Try taking off the radiator cap and running the engine at medium speed with the heater on full.
The water pump should pump the air out of the heater and this could solve the problem..
It might take 5 minutes.
Be sure to keep the radiator full of coolant as you are watching.
Be Blessed.

when the thermostat opened where did the coolant drain to? not understanding. did you put the thermostat in upside down blocking the cool will cause heater to blow cold air. if not, could be radiator itself.

The most probable cause would be a plugged heater core. Flush the core out with fresh water, and blow it out with air, first one way, then the other way.

I have a 1998 Oldsmobile bravada....just put new radiator, water pump, thermostat, radiator cap on and fluids are full....when i turn heat on....the ac automatically keeps kickin on causing me to only get...

did you burp the system after you where done. The heater d-core is the highest place in the cooling system and will be the first to collect an air pocket. Running the vehicle at idle with the cap off will help purge the air out.

The a/c will turn on any time the mode switch is on defrost. When the heat selector is turned to hot the air will first go through the a/c evaporator core and then through the heater core. When the heat selector is turned to cold air will only go through the evap core. So regardless if the a/c compressor is on or not with the heat selector on hot it should blow hot air.

Did the heat work before you replaced the other parts?

If not than it is possible that the heater core is plugged. Especially if the coolant was really dirty before you started.

check to see if both heater hoses are same temp when engine is at normal running temp if not heater core not flowing coolant may need to flush also make sure it does reach normal temp around 200

I replaced the water pump and thermostat in my sons 1998 Jeep. It has a 4.0L and the water pump out let hose back into the radiator sits several inches higher than the radiator. This is causing a air lock....

4.0 engines aren't really prone to air locks. Keep the heater on high while re-filling. If you have an overheating problem and you can't get the radiator to fill fast enough, likely the radiator core is internally blocked. When that happens it seems that the upper hose can't be purged of air. Jeep radiators are in my opinion too small for the engine and if partially blocked, have no "leeway" or forgiveness. They just will not fill correctly.
