Car doesnt start. Doesnt click when you turn the key. battery had charge. Can hear a pinging sound from a small circular device right on top of the engine. Gonna start with that tommorow and we can go from there.

Hi, i would recommend that you check the starter first if the vehicle doesn't cranck over, try hitting it with a hamer and try to start it, you can also remove it and take it to an auto part store and they can test it for you, make sure you unplug the battery first to avoid sparks and circuit shorts, also be aware of the way the wiring is so you can put it back the way it goes...

Car wont start, Not the Battery..Just Charged it(Checked at AutoZone)

If you are hearing a clicking sound but the engine is not cranking you may have a bad connection on one or both of your battery cables. If your cables check out good then your starter may need replacing.

Just because the battery was "charged" doesn't mean it is a good battery, remove it and have a local discount auto parts store test it, it is free.

Hi Kelly,
sounds like your battery is a bit sick. Or it could be the starter motor solenoid sticking.
The click you are hearing is probably the starter motor solenoid. If you hear a series of loud clicking its usually due to a flat battery in which case you need a jump start from another car.
If you can get someone to charge up your battery using a portable charger and the car starts OK, its a fair bet your battery is on it's way out. You can get your battery tested at any large reputable auto repair shop.
If the battery is OK, the solenoid can get stuck on your starter motor. Often a light tap with a rubber or wooden mallet can free up a stuck solenoid, but ultimately you will need a new starter motor. (BTW The solenoid is the smaller bit attached to your starter motor. There will be heavy wires attached to it) Have a look at link 1 below for more info.

Charged battery on my blazer. Battery shows full charge. but when you turn the key you hear the fuel pump kick on but nothung else. doesnt even attempt to turn over?

Starter might be toast. If it clicks then it's your solenoid if it doesn't click the whole thing is pooched.
Or try putting it in Neutral and see if it will start.Maybe the safety switch is gone or broken.

Battery went dead, charged battery and still wont turn over

i had a 95 xj 6 with the same problem. At the fire wall on the right side is a bolt with a rubber cover on it. this cable goes behind the engine to the starter. That bolt at the fire wall my need to be replaced. find it it may be rusted or corroded. If it is, the current from the battery will stop at that bolt and not contunue on to the starter but lights and everything else will work. If when you turn the key you just hear a click or nothing. that part is 5 dollars at autozone.

We own a 2000 GMC Jimmy, and it won't start. It got repoed in January or Feb and we got it back with a GPS locater on it. Ever since the car lot put the locater on it, it kind of run weird after that. Now...

If the vehicle doesnt turn over make sure the battery is fully charged. If charged and still doesnt turn,(if the vehicle has a security system) check and make sure the starter kill feature is disabled (check vallet switch). If it cranks and doesnt start to check the fuel pump you can have someone turn the key to the on position while you put your ear close to the fuel tank to see if you can hear the pump (you should hear a buzzing sound for 5seconds after the key is turned to the on position). This is a tuff call. You need to find out what the lot did when they put the GPS on the vehicle
