Can i use 5 w 20 oil in my 2003 pt cruiser?

trust synthetic oils like 10w 40 or 5w 60, the reason why because synthetic operates from 80 to 90 degrees as normal operating temp therefore gives engine power by improving hydraulic tarpet performance. other oils form colestrol at 45 degrees thereby blocking oil galaries causing bearing knock

Rough gear change when first started

This car is now 12 years old.Have you ever changed the trans fluid?(We tend to neglect these things due to so many"maintainence free" features on today's cars.) If your'e going to bother changing it,try a synthetic lube.(Verify the fluid type in the owner's manual-some use ATF,some use motor oil, some may even still call for gear oil).Or,did someone possibly put gear oil in it,intead of the correct fluid?(I did this on my 95 Dodge Dakota!)

I have about 52,000 miles on my 2008 Pt Cruiser. How many miles can I drive before I need an oil change?

You should replace the oil every 3,000 miles or 3 months. Unless you are using synthetic oil. With synthetic you can go to 10,000 miles. But I change mine at 7,500.

Synthtic oil

yes synthetic oil can be used in just about any vehicle. Older vehicles with high miles it is reccomended to use high milliage oil but you should be fine with synthetic oil just make sure to use a high millage filter. reason is that traditional filters only last 3000 miles but synthetic oil lasts 5-6000 miles. A high millage filter will last tha same as the oil.
