2000 galant has no acceleration, can only drive by touching gas pedal

Check operation of throttle position sensor with a ohms meter through its range of movement. Resistance should rise or fall consistently through its range of movement.

Also check the condition of the following:

1) Spark plugs, leads and coils
2) Air filter
3) Fuel filter.

We have a 2001 Dodge Diesel 3500. For 3 yrs and several mechanics, it has intermittently (quite often now) lost power when driving, especially when pulling a trailer. We have had 2 pumps replaced, sensors...

High probability it is Throttle Pedal Assembly fault. Very common problem. Throttle is not reporting to ECU so the throttle ( Accelerator.) does not rev up the engine.

If the pedal checkes out on a scan test, you might need a Crank Sensor....another high failure component although somewhat cheaper then the T/P..

If you would like to know more about this problem.....Google " Dodge Dead Pedal Syndrome."

Well, I guess I would find a way to get the fuel delivery right at the point of use diverted into a jar, so I could inspect for water or silt.

Fuel delivery bad enough to make the engine run wrong ought to be visible as a lean burn telltale on the spark plug insulators.

I would have a shop check to see what the coil(s) is/are capable of delivering, and what the engine requires for spark voltage while running. If the two are very close, you can easily run out of necessary voltage to fire the plugs.

The intermittancy though does seem to argue for something else...
