Question about Kia Sportage

I have a 2001 kia sportage ex 2wd-i have starting problems-in starting my car i turn the key all the way, sometimes it starts on the first try, sometimes it takes no more than three try. sometimes i can turn the key to the minimum position it starts every time but when i turn the key all the way, it takes more than one try to get started.

Get diagnostics done, as this situation can mean there is a problem with the engine management system, this can be a simple valve, solenoid problem, wiring issue, or even a simple thing like the key battery.

Kia sportage cranks but seldom starts??


Have you checked the fuel pump relay to see if it is sending power to the pump ? The computer grounds the relay when the computer "sees" oil pressure or engine RPM.

DISCONNECT NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE BEFORE STARTING. REMOVE THE PLASTIC COVERING FROM AROUND THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH. LOOKING AT A NEW SWITCH WILL BE HELPFUL, TO SEE HOW TO REMOVE THE SWITCH.

igniion modules overheat!
thus no spark sometimes it will start when it cools down mabe 20 minutes or more

Theres a solenoid on the starter to engage the starter onto the flywheel. The solenoid could be going out.

Steering wheel locked, brakes are hard, cannot turn the key 2 sta


try turning the steering wheel and the key at the same time its a locking ignition and sometimes if you turn the wheel while you turn the key it will unlock the column try turning the wheel both ways doing this
