2003 Lincoln Town Car 1. Used to be when I locked the doors with the key fob the horn would sound briefly. Now the doors lock the horn does not sound. 2. About the same time or maybe at the same time the doors no longer locked when the car started in motion. All other door lock function still work, inside lock button, key fob, and keyless entry.

The door lock fine by all switches, keyless entry switches, and key fob. They don't lock automatically when the car starts in motion.

The doors lock by all switches, key fob and keyless entry - they don't lock automatically when the car start in motion. Used to lock automatically when the car reached 5 or 10 mph. I want to restore the autolock when in motion function.

This sounds like what I am needing, I will try it this weekend and let you know what I figured out. Thanks

I found the solution in a Owners Manual, had to borrow one from another Lincoln owner. It seems the auto-lock provision can be toggled on and off. Somehow mine got toggled off. To toggle it back on it was a series of ignition switch position changes between on and off and a set number of presses on the unlock switch, then change the switch position and more presses on the unlock button, then change the switch position again and it toggles the auto-lock function on. For the life of me I don't know how it might have been toggled off. Thanks for your suggestion.

Hi,

Check the actuator in the doors, it appears that is non-operational and needs to be replaced.

Also remove drivers door controls, clean all contacts with electrical parts wash ,let dry put back together if one or more of your problems is solved then that is where your problem is .Clean again in more detail or replace individual switches ,if the first clean showed no improvement then you have a short. Check wires between door and door frame for pinched or frayed move them around as you try the window and door locks.

Please accept the solution if it's helpful. Do get back to us for any further query.

This is a malfunction of the main remote control unit as the microoprocessor is not responding to the signal recieved.
In the first part, you must first check the horn which is connected as the indicator for response to the output received from the board. If there is no output when the trigger is pressed, you can confirm that a possible fault in the main board.
The second part of the fault is similarily related as a wrong mode of operation to the designed output.
Now if there a reset provided as a small press to ON switch normally , you can switch the car ON and press this switch to reset the remote controller unit.
If this wont work, the battery can be disconnected provided you have all the codes to reset , clock, radio etc..,
If so disconnect the battery and reconnect after 15 minutes. If the unit flashes , reset using the press switch.
If none of the above works or is inline, the unit is functioning irregularily. If you can remove and resolder the mP section, the IC and the power leads. Check the drive output to the horn, check the input power and the regulator within.
If this wont solve it can be a faulty mP IC.

Locked keys in 1999 lincoln town car executive and no keyless entry. can I gain entrance without an expensive locksmith?

Hello Jennifer Jackson...

No... even LINCOLN windows are harder to break
(sorry... your LINCOLN is pretty secure).

Worse... the best price I've paid to get a double sided
PATS (passive anti-theft system) key cut = $6.

Bring your own key... But this was all about the price of PREVENTING your current situation... (oops).

If your ONLY key is truly "inside"...
Your goose is pretty much cooked... The cost of
the LOCKSMITH is pretty trivial compared to your
alternatives... Dealers will zing you MUCH BETTER
than your "expensive locksmith"...

But what ever you do... (my recommendation)... Since
you prefer not to be prepared... (no door code or FOB)
Don't pass on the opportunity to have that same SMITHY
at least tell you about your door code POSSIBILITIES
or at least program a remote FOB for you ...

A RESPONSIBLE "expensive locksmith" will
explain the WISDOM of NEVER having less than 2 (TWO) transponder keys. (by reading your owners manual you can program the FOBs yourself (FREE).

How do you manage the "no" keyless entry...?
I remain pretty sure the number pad... & KEY FOB
(wireless transmitter) were standard equipment...

2 SPARE keys minimum... ALWAYS.

Bought a clicker for my son's used 2003 Hyundai Tiburon (base) we just purchased. He keeps the clicker, I went to open the door with my key, and the car went into crazy mode. I put the key in th

It happens a lot for the Tiburon apparently....what you have to do is put the key in the ignition whilst the horn is going nuts, turn the key to the "on" position and wait a minute or so for the horn to stop blowing. Then press the "unlock" button on the fob until you see the turn signals flash. try turning the key over and see if it will start up. If it doesn't, try again, same thing only turn the key all the way off and try starting as normal again. I can't remember if it's the "unlock" or "lock" button you're supposed to press, but one of them does it. Test it while in the car and see if it locks when you hit lock on the fob.....oh, and also make sure all the doors are shut while you are doing this. It recalibrates the fob to the car's computer and resets your security system and keyless entry.

1997 lincoln town car sounds continuously, have pulled horn relay and security system will go off in the middle of the night - can reset with key fob. Is the problem a horn switch or clock spring?

this is most likely due to a defective door open/ajar sensor, it is not related to the horn pad/airbag, this happens during hot days from horn pad warping due to heat, have the driver door ajar switch replaced.

Program a remote key for 03 A6

I have an A4 and did this to re-program my key:

1. used the key to start the car...then turned it off
2. put the key in the driver door (door closed)
3. pressed the lock button on the key fob once
4. turned the key to lock the door.

This is basically the steps in the owners manual, but the car must be started with the key first, and the key must be in the door lock before pressing the lock button.
