The ignition assembely is bad.You can have a ford dealer replace it but they will charge you big---or you can goto an auto parts store and buy one but then you have to have a key made.

Almost posative it is your ignition switch located on the steering column under the plastic covers just in front of your key entry it will be attached to the column with two break away bolts make sure you disconnect the battery(-) then disconnect the switch electrical plug youll need to drill out the break away bolts and remove with an easy out make sure that the key is in the on position as this is where the new one will be positioned make sure you get the actuator pin into the switch now just work backwards of what i have told you to install it might sound difficult but it isnt once you identify the switch but I am almost 99% sure that is your problem hope this helps.

Why won't my '66 Mustang start with the ignition switch in start position?

Change your ignition key module and that will fix the problem. Problems with key modules can be attributed to the weight of the owners key ring. Some people have massive key rings with all sorts of gadgets on them causing them to become very heavy. This puts an unexpected load on the key module and the load can double with it swinging from side to side ect... Best advise, keep the key ring simple and light.

it may need a little adjust in the ignition switch not the key cylinder but the electric switch it is located in the steering column under dash and is hold by two screws you will need a 5/16 wrench to loose these screws and push the switch a little to the front then tight the screws i hope this help you fix it i'll be happy to assist you if you have further questions please let me know if this was useful.

My ignition switch will not disengage when you

it sounds like the ignition switch itself if you pull the plastic off the steering column and turn the key you will see a metal rod that moves back and forth running to a plastic switch with quite a few wires running out of it this is actually what controls all the electrical contacts when you turn the key on or off

One of the wires on your ignition feed is possibly wrong, causing the engine to switch off when leaving the ignition.

How do I change an Ignition on a 1988 Ford Mustang GT Automatic Transmission

Not exactly sure when Ford changed the style. But I think it is this one. First of all do you have the key thet fits the lock cylinder you are changing? If so, put the key in and turn it to the run position. If this is the style I'm thinking about there will be a small hole in the column cover under the lock cylinder. A small allen wrench works fine. Push in with allen wrench and at the same time pull out on lock cylinder. (you may have to turn key alittle one way or the other to release pin.) If you don't have the key for this lock cylinder it will be EXTREMELY difficult to remove. Hope this is helpful .
