Question about 1998 Plymouth Grand Voyager

My vans heater doesnt blow any hot air only cold i change the thermostat and blow air to the pipes two mechanics tell me that i need to change the heater cord can u please tell me where to find instructions how to do it my self and please tell me where is the heatter cord thanks

How can I fix this my van only blows out cold air?


Check both hoses to heater core and see if they are both hot. If not, try back-flushing heater core. If the are both hot, you may have an air"blend" door not working due to bad actuator or vacuum leak. This is the door which changes hot the air flows into the heater core or not.

Sounds like you have water in the oil which means you could have a blown head gasket. Can you tell what got in the oil. Is it antifreeze or gas. If gas you probably have a injector sticking open.

thermostats open by virtue of the coolant getting hot and expanding a wax insert that opens the flap valve. If the thermostat is not opening then one reason is that it is in the wrong way. The body of the unit has to face the head or coolant and not the hose. Next check the cores for blockages by having a flow test done on the radiator. Sensors have nothing to do with thermostats .All they do is turn fans on or tell the CPU when the coolant is hot enough to reduce the richness of the air fuel mixture.. Ensure that there is no air lock in the cooling system as it affects the heater operation if there is air in the heater and the hot water will not flow through the core. Ensure that the heater control module (tap) is allowing the hot water to flow to the heater core.

Heaters blow cold on my vauxhall vectra


I have a astra the same thing ,when its really cold i slide a piece of cardboard in front of the rad ,yes i know i changed the thermostat behind the timing cover and it should get hot but?? bled the top heater hose and all that but for some reason it will not get hot .The only other thing i do when the weather get cold is to fit a renault thermostat in the top hose ,one of the old renault 4 /5 type that goes in the pipe but as this spain it doesnt get that cold very often .You could try removing the pipes to the heater and flushing with a hose pipe and reversing the direction a few times but if the engine isnt getting hot to start with then thats most likely your problem .

with the engine warmed up + the heater on fan off check the heater control valve make sure it's not
physicaly damaged then have somone turn the heat
on+off if it is vacum controled pull vac line make sure you have vacum+it starts and stops if it is mechanical you can see if it works or not still the
best test is to pull the valve + blow through it if it's
vacum leave the line on to open and close it
if the valve works it is most likely a pluged heater
core. if you're gonna DIY stop by the library and
check out a chilton/moter/mitchells or haynes
repair manual or you can go to any auto parts store
and buy the haynes repair manual specific to your
car for about $10.00 any of these books will give
you the step by steps and diagrams you need to
do the job. hope this helps any other ? gimme a

Check the metal part of the heater core lines at the firewall if you can get to them and see if one side is noticeable colder than the other. At least one of them should be hot or you have a bad thermostat. If both are hot than your hot/cold actuator inside is having a problem

No heat air is blowing cold


First you have to identify what causes the problem.
To do this you have to:
1) When engine is cold check the level of coolant. If it is low fill it up.
2) Start engine and check if engine reaches regular temperature. If your engine is not heated enough it means your thermostat does not work properly and should be replaced.
3) If engine temperature is normal, then check the temperature of pipes that go to/from heater core. These pipes are located up the fire wall (easier access is from the passenger side). If pipe/pipes are cold (even engine is worm) it means you heater core is plugged and should be flushed. Keep in mind, flushing the whole cooling system is different from flushing heater core.
4) If pipe/pipes are hot/warm, turn off the fan, switch controller to the hot position, wait for 3-4 minutes and turn on the fan. Note if the cold air blows first or warm air blows first but it cools down in 5-10 seconds. If the air blows cold than it is most probably the problem with blend door or blend door actuator.
5) If air blows warm first and then cools down, then while running engine and remaining the transmission in PARKING position, press on the gas pedal until your engine reaches 3,000 RPM. Check if your heater blows warm/hot air. If it does, then your water pump does not work properly and should be replaced. If the air still cold, I would suggest to flush the heater core.

Van has new rad on all pipes are hot including the pipes into the bulkhead although the out let pipe is warm, temp gauge in dash working normally, have flushed out the system for blocks everything coming...


YOUR problem could be either the air valve that opens the heater from hot to cold and is worked by vacuum and if the pipe is split then you wont get the heat etc.
also change the thermostat and open the heater to hot before bleeding the coolant system..

Engine overheats when heater pipes connected


I think you could be right about there being air trapped in the system.
Or the heater core(radiator) is plugged.
Either way you need a pressurized radiator coolant pump to put the coolant in without air being trapped.
Although,i have seen it done by jacking the vehicle up high enough that the radiator was now higher than the heater core level, and then the coolant was put in.
But this is dangerous to try.
