Dip your transmission oil and see what colour it is if it's brown and smells burned your box needs overhauling because it's slipping and overheating if it's red it just might need a oil and filter service if app to this vehicle

Is the overdrive light flashing when this Happens. If so, it's slipping in fourth and internal repair is necessary, especially if the trans fluid smells burnt. Yes! and have the trans scanned for transmission codes (could be an electrical problem ie. bad shift solenoid). Best of luck, hope this helps.

Gutless on hills....only 60,000 miles

Usually a problem such as yours, there are 2 areas of concern:
  1. Transmission slipping - if the transmission isn't kicking down to provide power on hills, you may have a slipping problem. Transmission fluid and filter should be changed every 30k. Could be low on transmission fluid or the fluid could be old and/or burned (will be brown instead of purple)
  2. Fuel obstruction - common fixes for a fuel problem are fuel filter, clogged fuel injector

Looses power /slips going up a hill.

This is a hard question to answer without more information. If the vehicle has a sensation of slipping it is usally the automatic transmission that is at fault and it probably has to be rebuilt. The sensation of power loss could be from the slipping transmission. Try manually downshifting the trans. to a lower gear when going up a hill and see what happens. That can tell you if the problem is the trans, or the engine,
