My vehicle is a motor home. It has a Chevrolet 454 engine. No auto parts stores or Chevrolet dealers have any knowledge about the fan belt diagrams for this engine in a motor home. I really don't agree with what they tell me. I think they want me to bring the motor home in so they can give me a $500 bill for installing the fan belts.

I have obtained a diagram for Chevrolet 454 engines from late 1985 to current and they feature a serpintine belt. My engine does not have a serpintine belt. It takes (3) separate conventional V belts.

I can not tell the configuration of the belts as they are missing. They broke for the previous owner of the motor home.

Going to an auto parts store or the dealer or anywhere else has not worked.

I need the belt diagram for a 1984. This is the belt diagram for a 1985-1/2 which uses a serpentine belt.

Hopefully this diagram will help. As for the belt sizes, I would suggest using a thick nylon rope routed around the pulleys and then measuring the length. When purchasing the belts enquire as to the store's exchange policy in case you get it wrong.

No serpentine belt on that diagram. It is for use with V-belts. (I notice however there is a small error on the diagram with regards to the power steering, apologies for that)
    Let me clarify.
Crank 1st track(closest to engine) : Crank, Power steering 1st track
Crank 2nd track : Crank, Waterpump 1st track, A/C, power steering 2nd track
    Crank 3rd track : Crank, A.I.R(smog) pump, Alternator(Generator), water pump 2nd track
Getting the belt sizes right you should go with my 1st suggestion of using a rope or you could use an old belt longer than what you require. Cut the old belt and route where needed. Adjust the tensioner(ie alternator) to a point where the belt would be shortest/have the most slack. Pull the belt as tight as it will go and clamp with a vice grip. Adjust tension to check if you will reach the correct tension. Mark the belt where it overlaps at the vice grip. Take it of and measure the length. Repeat for the other 2 belts. Belts are sold in lengths with half inch increments so you wont be far off if you use the correct width belt for measurement.
As far as I could ascertain all belts are 0.44 inches wide with the following lengths:
Track 1 I've been unable to find the size on this.
    Track 2 is a 15800 - 80 inch
    Track 3 is a 15500 - 50 inch length (15495 - 49.5inches according to manufacturer spec)
I would rather suggest that you attempt to measure as detailed above before purchasing

The fan belt diagram is located underneath the hood or engine cover on a sticker. Also look in the glovebox for belt routing information. Click on the link below to view the different belts and numbers for your 1984 Chevy Motor Home:

I need 3 belts. You list 10. What do I do, BUY ALL 10 AND TRY THEM.

No, you choose the three belts that you want and then purchase them. It's like buying a Cadillac instead of a Buick when you make this choice. Always choose quailty first

Hello. Usually the diagram is on a sticker under the hood. If not there, check in the owner manual if u have it. Otherwise go to a NAPA parts store where they have all of the diagrams in their data base and they will give you a copy of the diagram plus the belt numbers. Joe

Drive belt schematic for 1984 chevy 6.2L diesel

I have an 82 6.2 and I suspect they are the same. The innermost belt runs over the fan to the A/C unit and down under the power steering back to the crank. The middle belt runs over the fan to the power steering. The out side belt runs over the fan to the alternator. Hope this helps.
