should be next to your thermostat , follow the upper radiator hose, to top of engine, see any thing, a repair manual is an amazing guide !

2001 chevy impala has a P0420 code and a check engine light that will not reset. Earlier P-codes indicated a problem with cylinders 1-3. these codes reset after a while. Found intake vacuum house off on...


A code P0420 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

An oxygen sensor is not reading (functioning) properly
The engine coolant temperature sensor is not working properly
Damaged or leaking exhaust manifold / catalytic converter / exhaust pipe
Retarded spark timing

Unless the car is overheating you probably just have a bad temperature sensor probably located on the intake manifold....
