Remove the serpentine belt ,and remove the 8mm head bolts from all around the water pump,and then remove the pump.

Sounds like a headgasket problem.
If this is the 3.4 liter v6, they are good for the rear headgasket being blown. This lets combustion gases into the cooling system, and causes the coolant to overflow the tank.
