Question about Mercedes-Benz E320

2 Answers

I have a 1999 E320 Mercedes and one of my key fobs stopped working so I replaced the batteries in it and when I prees the button now the red lite indicator comes on but nothing happens? My spare one is still working but I need the other one to work in case the spare stops working. Can I reprogram it myself?

My order # 223469 was answered by your site and I tried the solution provided but it did not work. When I insert the key fob that needs re programmed into the ignition it does not activate the release of the steering as it should (and as my other fob does immediately upon inserting it). I can not go thru the process that is suggested to re program. I have recently replaced the batteries and the red indicator lite flashes when I depress the unlock button. HELP? My problem remains unresolved..

If this key fob won't release the steering (which it doesn't) you are saying leave it in the ignition up to 45 min and wait for it to release? I can not reprogram until the steering unlocks and I can turn the key fob to 2nd position

HELP. I still do not have a reply/answer to my order # 223469. As stated above the key fob does not release the steering column. Are you suggesting I insert the key in the ignition and "wait" up to 45 min? PLEASE RESPOND.

IT WORKED!!!! The manual on my 99 ML430 to "Resynching Remote Key" was just written weird.

It says "Turn the key in the ignition to 2nd position then back to 0. Press and hold the lock key for 15 seconds... now press the unlock key 5 times"... which I held down the lock button for 15 seconds, released it, then pressed the unlock key 5 times. NOTHING!

The newer manuals say press and hold the lock key and press the unlock key 5 times (with the lock key still held down).

So... it worked. Hope this helps!

Addional remotes usually work right out of the box, but a replacement "could" take uo to 45 minutes, I have been there. First it does not turn then it wont keep running, finally sucess. I kept on trying my emergency key which worked, and the process started all over it seemed like an eternity. The workshop info states it could take time!

Your car may have had a new ignition switch installed - hence the different key. The FOB may not be programmed properly to lock / unlock. Have you contacted a MB dealer?

I have 1999 s320 , i bought 3 new battery for my key , they key will work for 3 days than will stop ,please i need help

Unfortunately most of the key fobs are badly built, right from the factory. 99% of the time the battery circuit board contacts in the fob get loose and the battery will only make intermittent contact so sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. You need to open the fob and closely inspect all the solder joints, any loose joints need to be re-soldered, the unit should then work fine.

I've a problem with my Mercedes-Benz E320 key. It doesn't open the doors.

Assuming that you mean that when you push a button on the key fob, nothing happens, you most likely need to replace the battery in the fob. If you aren't comfortable doing this yourself, you can take it to a key shop or the dealer.

Mercedes e class cannot open the boot

I have a e320 2003 model, the same has happened to me. I wondered if it could be the fuse but couldn't find a fuse that managed the boot.....
This problem is identical to the other post "boot wont open electronicaly by the boot release latch above the number plate, the boot release button inside the car or the key fob! I have to use the manual key to mechanically open it now."

Mercedes 1999 c200 key fob

Hello Haq!
Could it be the key just needs re-coding? maybe you are worrying to much as £177 would be about right as that would need coding etc., Try phoning your local Merc dealer or take the key and V5 to them for coding (Hopefully)
Good Luck!

E320 car key doesn't work

I had the same problem with my 2001 E320. Roadside assistance came to my house and said it was a problem with the key. Ordered a new key (cost about $220 from Keys European in Van Nuys, CA) and the key worked. When I went to dealer to pick up the key, I spoke to a service consultant and he said that hes seen that problem before and replacing the key wont do anything (even though it did work). He said something about a ESI (something like that) and said that parts only on that cost about $600. So first thing you should try is replacing your key. Hope I helped.
