On almost all one wire switches, even sending units in engine compartment: touch wire of clip to ground to bypass switch/sensor
on two wire: short between 2 contacts in harness clip attached to switch to bypass have power on so lights work in your particular case
I can elaborate if you reply and need further assistance...

Brake lights do not work. All other lights work fine. What could be wrong and how do I fix it?

Hi Jodi

One culprit could be the brake light switch at the brake pedal.. Check for a bad connection at the switch. If these appear to be fine, you may have to replace the switch. After disconnecting the wires to the switch, an ohmmeter will easily tell you if the contacts are closing when the brakes are applied.

Hope this helps.

Brake lights don't work

Here's a link to your stoplight switch,it's attached to the brake pedal, could just need adjusting, when brake pedal is pushed switch is released turning on brake lights. There's no way telling if it's good or bad by it's appearence. But if you replace and problem is not solved,Autozone will refund.

Please give a reason i have a brake pedal light can you tell me how to fix it? Thanks.

Brake lights on the instrument cluster can come on for one of two reasons. It comes on when the emergency brake is pulled up a bit and it also can come on if there is a pressure differential between front and rear brake hydraulic "circuits". This last one tells you there is a leak in the brake system (front or rear) or possibly a bad brake master cylinder (bad o-rings inside) delivering more pressure to one than the other. Temporarily unplugging that switch on the master cylinder would rule that out if the brake light continues to stay on. The first one could be due to a bad or out of adjustment emergency brake lever switch located on the lever mechanism.

Gearshift wont come out of park and no brakelights.

It sounds like your brake switch has gone bad. It is under the brake pedal. When you push your brake pedal down, the switch is pressed, turning on your brake lights, and telling your computer that the brakes are on. When these go bad, your brake lights will not work, and your car will not shift out of park. Try looking under your dask near the brake pedal with a flashlight, try locating the brake light switch, and inspect the wires. You can probably find a diagram of this switch on google.
I hope this helps

1994 Corolla shift lever stuck in park and no brake lights

The brake switch on brake pedal is bad. Tells transmission brake is depressed so it will come out of park. Also controls brake lights. It's a plunger type switch that just has a little pin that when extended completes a circuit and allows brake lights to come on. Shouldn't be hard to replace just might be aggravating to get to.

Brake light not work. done all checking blubs is good, replace switch, replace relay, fuse all good. turngal work hazzard light work but no brake light. i bypass on relay it work so i cant leave short...

the brake light switch powers the wire which goes to the turn signal switch. So I think if the turn signals works, then the turn signal switch is bad. Check for power at the wire going from the brake switch to the turn signal switch. . Since you didnt tell what year or model the truck is, I cant tell you what the wire color is.

No brake lights on rear of truck. Turn signals work and brake light on top with cargo light works but not on rear of truck

Brake light on top works tells me the switch at the pedal is ok. Turn signals working tells me that the turn signal filaments have power.

I would try changing the bulbs and if that doesn't work have an electrical shop trace the wires and check for power on the brake light circuit in the back.

Parking brake light keeps fashing on and off and at the sametime the day time lights flash as well.

The daytime running lights go off when the parking/emergency brake is engaged. There is a switch located on the parking brake lever to tell the car the parking brake is on. It sounds like that switch is intermittently indicating the brake is on. Make sure the lever is all the way disengaged. Move it up and down, jiggle it to see if you can get the light to go on/off. If the lever is disengaged you probably have a bad switch or bad wiring to the switch.
