Question about 1987 Mitsubishi Montero

1 Answer

I just replaced my carb from a mikuni to a weber on my 87 montero, now i'm not getting any fuel. I used a test light on the fuel pump and i am getting power. The light pulses very dim on the test light though. Could it be a bad pump or just not getting enough power?

Try a hot wire from the battery direct to the pump, that way you know for sure.

How to fix a Weber DGV 2 Barrel Carb. I have a Weber Carb on my Model A Ford. It stalls out when accelerating up a hill. Can you help with where to start adjustments?

Sounds like restricted fuel flow...new correct fuel filter? Air/Fuel mixture...while idling...turn each screw clockwise until slight stall...then back out (counter clockwise) one and a half turns to smooth idle...Hope this helps.

Can not get my 91 montero to start

If the check engine light stays on when the key is turned on, get a manual and following its instructions, read the engine codes and proceed from there. If there is no check engine light, test to see if there is fuel by disconnecting the air cleaner feed to the throttle body and spray either a small amount of starting fluid or gasoline from a spray bottle (DO THIS VERY CAREFULLY). If the car starts or tries to start then your fuel pump, fuel pump relay or fuel pump fuse is the culprit. Dan

Stock carb or weber 2 barrel whats going to best for mpg this is a daily driver 258 6cyl would like to get close to 17mpg

i would go with the weber.this is why.

Weber - This is probably the most common carb conversion for the 6 cyl Jeeps. The Weber is a very reliable, all mechanical carb that improves performance and drivability. The Weber is designed to supply the proper amount of fuel determined by the demand put on the engine. When demands are small, only the primary barrel is used, and when demands increase, the second barrel is used in to deliver the performance needed. Use of thie carb allows removal of all the electronics associated with the BBD. The 32/36 DGEV model claims 18% hp increase over the stock factory carb as well as 10-20% fuel economy increase. The 38 DGEV model is designed for higher power applications where headers, cam, and aftermarket intake manifold are used. $$

I have a 1987 Dodge Ram 50 2wd 2.0L carb. , when i go above 35mph with throttle full pressed it starts to lose power and the vehicle starts to move back an forth, front to back, like it maybe running out...

well, i assume you did a compression check and have the plugs gapped properly? Okay then, this might not be what you want to hear but, disconnect the fuel lines, install a low pressure electric fuel pump(between 3 and 10 psi one) and install a variable pressure regulator, set it at 4psi and drive the truck. still need more power move to 5psi, adjust untill your happy.

I just put a 38 Outlaw on,the Weber instructions indicate that you may need to advance the ignition to as much as 12 BTC to compensate fro the larger primary and icrease in fuel delivered at intial acceleration.Hope this helps

22r Carb. misses at ide

Dripping fuel could indicate a badly adjusted float, bad needle and seat,or possibly to much fuel pressure off the pump,if your using a mechanical fuel pump make sure the return line to the gas tank isn't plugged,if your usining an electric fuel pump make sure you have a working pressure regulator,my personal opinion on remanufactred stock carbs isn't very high,if you can return the carb I would highly reccomend replacing it with a Weber 38 DGES,you can get a Toyota conversion kit for around the same cost as a remaned stock carb.
