My 2000 intrepid will no start. My husband has recently replaced with a new alternator. The car ran fort the 2 days. After i shut it off it then never started back. My husband then replaced the fuel pump assuming that was the problem. tried to start the car and it just turns over cranks but will not start. the spark plugs have all been replaced as well. it will not start even with a jump. my husband did the diagnosis of it being the fuel pump after putting starter fluid in the carborater..I BELieve anyway it started. what could the problem be?

Check injectors for operation of solenoids. Put long screwdriver on injector and hold ear to screwdriver while someone cranks engine. If injector clicks once every 2 revolutions, injectors are working. If working, check fuel pressure at rail. If low, replace fuel pressure regulator (get back to me for instructions).

If injectors not clicking, the powertrain control module is not sending signals to the injectors. This could be caused by the camshaft position sensor or the PCM itself.

When your battery light comes on it is telling you that your ALTERNATOR is not charging your battery! So you need to replace the alternator.

You can verify that it is bad by taking the car or just the alternator to an auto parts store and having them test it for you for free.

I have a 1997 Dodge Intrepid w/ 3.5L engine. Recently, when I would first start the car in the mornings, it would start and then die. As soon as I tried restarting it, it would start with no problems. Two...

I had the same problem with my 97 3.5l. I replaced the crankshaft sensor and the camshaft sensor and that fixed the problem. Both parts are inexpensive and easily replaced. The camshaft sensor is located on the top of the engine, to the left of the alternator. It is secured by one bolt. The crankshaft sensor is located on the bell housing for the transmission. You have to remove the air filter hose to access this sensor.

I have a 2000 dodge intrepid- the battery light was coming on and off for a few days and then the car just died. We checked and replaced the alternator and the car started right up (we did charge the battery for an hour before starting the car) but when you take the charger off the battery the car slowly dies. 2000 Dodge Intrepid Wont Start

first of all, check your code to see what the car computer shows. To do that , insert the key in the ignition and switch it on three time within 2 seconds and the third time live the key in the on position. All the instrument panel lights will lite and the oddometer will display the fault code that may br the cause for your car not starting. goood luck.

2000 pontiac grand am gt turns over won't start

without acually seeing the car its hard to say but it sounds like the fuel pump is weak gm cars and trucks are touchy about fuel pressure if your off from the spec by as little as 1 or 2 pounds it wont start. it may start off the starting fluid and run but not start on its own. also try taking off the fuel filter and blowing through it and see if its plugged up this is a common cause of fuel pump failure.
