Run out of fuel....prior the car is running....now after refueling, the engine won't start....if this is the problem,

Make sure the battery is cranking and strong.
Pressed gas pedal 4 times before starting.
Repeat above 3 times in 10 seconds per attempt.
Now press on the gas pedal pemanently while starting.

If this didn't work...get a syringe and scoop some gasoline from your fuel gas container and remove the rubber connectig from your trottle body and spray the syringe fuel inside and return the rubber hose. This should start the engine, unless your fuel tank is equipped automatic shut-off then you have to pound the rear end of your car where the fuel entry is located or push the button on the inside your trank to open the flow of fuel to the engine. Check your manual.

Car is running very rough after it was run out of gas. Suspect it has to do with injectors after adding fuel. Help please.

Often times the lower octane fuels have some sedement that settles at the bottom of your tank. So when you run out the gas often times these sedenments work there way through the fuel system. Try and fill up with a high octane (91 or higher) and add a fuel conditioner and drive it. This will sometimes burn off the sedement and help to unclog injectors. If this doesn't work then you may need to replace your fuel filters because they may be clogged.

1996 dodge dakota, used bad fuel, won't start

Pump the tank dry of the fuel using the electric fuel pump, just jump the fuel pump relay to get the pump to run and remove the supply line to the injectors and attach a hose. Use extreme caution around gasoline, no sparks, ground the container to the truck.

My car ran out of gas, now it will not start

If high miles, it may be a fuel pump. Fuel pumps usually go when gasoline is low and pump gets too warm. This may mimic running out of gas when there is a gallon or two of gas still left to draw but needle reads empty. Have someone put their ear to the gas tank while you turn on the ignition switch. the pump should run for 2-10 seconds with key on and not cranking.

If you don't hear the pump run, then investigate further for a failed pump.

My 2003 kia sedona ran out of gas. Now after adding gas i can not get it to start. HELP

You might have a fuel pump problem after running out of gas. Fuel pumps use gasoline to stay cool, and when there is no gas they can overheat. Also, a good way to tell if your fuel pump is running, is to turn the key to the "run position" ( right before the car starts) and listen for a humming/buzzing sound coming from the fuel tank.

Fuel type

Having a relatively low compression engine, you can run an 87 octane fuel in there. If ethanol is added in your area, up to 10% is fine. If you do have ethanol, don't bother adding dry gas because the ethanol is dry gas. (any alcohol is hygroscopic). Adding a higher octane fuel is a waste of $ because unless you are getting detonation, it does nothing for you.

I run out of gas put 5 gl back in now it wont turn over

By "TURN OVER" do you mean CRANKING or STARTING because in my nomenclature these are two very differnt things. If you mean it "CRANKS" but will not "START" after adding fuel ....have someone listen for fuel pump at filler opening, easy to hear for 5-6 secs. after turning key to ON position. If you hear pump "WHIRRING" are you sure running out of gas is what stopped your vehicle from running 'cause adding fuel ,....... and not cranking over are so completely unrelated I don't know where to start unless maybe you had a diesel motor and added gasoline
