Car won't start. the battery doesnt seem to be dead. there is only a loud clicking when i try to crank it. what could that be?

1;/2 the fuses are dead KEY off that is 100% Normal.
key on does IP cluster glow lamps as it did just like it did for 13 years?

is the starter motor dead/? called cranking,?????????????

you said new crank , I'm sure you meant a new starter motor>?
is the starter dead? now? if yes post how to test a dead starter.
starters fail in many ways.

• dead
• chatters.
• clicks,
• makes a HUGE nasty loud bang, (engine or it seized)
• or starter spins fast (sounds like sewing machined) but engine cranks shaft never spins (turns ) starter pinon failure.

or starter goes GRRRRRGRRRRRR and crank shaft spins but does not start.(seen and heard)

a dead starter with a good battery (charged) may crank
if you learn to crank it in NEUTRAL. (auto tranny?)
does starter work , JUMPER cable jump started?????
crank in park then try Neutral.
on stick shift cars the clutch switch bad kills cranking.

Daniel, If battery is known to be good, could be bad connections at battery, starter/solenoid, or ground on engine/frame, battery cables also could be bad with build up of corrosion internally. Check the attached links,instruction and guides, Good luck

Clicking noise would indicate starter solenoid faulty! This would also be the case if battery low but since you have a new battery you can look at the starter solenoid!

Could be a bad or loose connection on the battery.
When you're trying to start the car, turn on the headlights. If they dim or go out, the problem is the battery or battery connections.

seems the battery is discharging,? 12.6v is fully charged,
own a voltmeter?

i can jumper cable start my car at any time. (off another running car)
but after running my car, the battery discharges and it will not crank at all. right?
this means ,the charging system on your car is bad.
if the starter cranks great, then the engine is flooded or is in great need of a tune up (sparkplugs etc)
if flooded try the super secret in the op guide, crank with throttle wide open , this magic trick cuts all fuel injection allowing the flooding
to purge away, and eventual starting.
my guess 2 is the car wont start, so you crank the battery flat
you jumper start it and it runs. (luck)
then day 2, same deal cranks ok but wont start.. ever tune up the engine?

answer depends on if it cranks, has spark or just clicks when you try to start it.

Sounds like your battery is just too dead, has enough juice to light up the system for a minute but cranking drains it and if it wont charge then deff fried, you could try removing the battery and starting the car with cables to confirm the starter still works. If a bettery is too dead then when you are jumping it, it takes to much of the power just trying to get through the battery.

probably not sounds like either a dead or weak battery or bad connections on the battery posts. first take battery cables loose clean terminals and hook back up hopefully then it will start. or use jumper cables and see if it will jump start. if it jump starts then you no its not starter.if it doesnt jump stsrt then clean posts and cable ends and try again. hope this helps. best of luck

if your battery is good and your try to start your car and all you hear is clicking, that means yoru starting is satrting to fail and it doesnt catch. but try this to see if its your starter. Locate your starter and have soembody cranking the engine while yout tap little bit on the started with a piece of metal or little hammer, This will make the starter catch in al least ones and will show you if it is the problem. And this method worked for me 40 times out of 50. Good luck bro
