Question about 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix
This is a big job, the heads need to be machined flat again, there a block test that will tell you if exhaust gases are in the cooling system, this is due to a bad head gasket or cracked head, by sending to shop the head can be plained and they will check for cracks that the eye cant see, these sometimes have bad head or heads. the other problem is the intake leak but if heads are done there will be new intake gaskets done also, this job would take a tech about 12 hour to do.

Depends on how it blows. Can cause oil to mix in coolant or coolant in oil. Can also let coolant into cylinders to cause steam in exhaust. Or, combustion gas into coolant--this will cause overheating. You can tell this one from other types of overheating by noticing bubbles coiming into the coolant reservoir or up the radiator with the cap off. Let us know if you have more questions.

SOURCE: head gasket sealant
As a A S E Certified Tech I Do NOT RECOMEND ANY "QUICK FIX" ADDITIVES Especialy for such a Critical Engine Component
More Costly but Also More effective is to Tear down Engine and Replace Head Gasket as You may have A Cracked Head Or Block That NO ADDITIVE will TRUELY REPAIR PROPERLY
Rough Estemate In USA Midwest $350.00-$600.00 For The Real FIX yep they vary that wide Some of us Love Helping PEOPLE the Rest LOVE THE MONEY MORE

This is a very lengtht process so my suggestion to yoy is to go to an auto parts store and ask for a "chilton book" for your vehicle.this book will walk you through the process
