Question about 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix

1 Answer

I just bought a a Pontiac Grand Prix 2003 from a local dealership and it seems like after a couple weeks of having the car when i turn the key it takes longer to start up. I went to autozone and they said they couldnt test my alternator because my battery was really low and defective. I don't know though if it got drained by something or what it could be.

The first thing is to replace the battery, they said it was defective, or recharge it and then have the charging system tested, you may have a defective battery.

How do I program a new key fob for a 2007 Grand Prix? Bought a replacement on e-bay.

Hey Lisa,
You are going to have to take the car and the key fobs to the dealership .
They will need all of the fobs , as they are all going to need to be reprogramed at once ;
The fob on an 07 Pontiac only can be programed using a diagnostic scan tool .
They will connect the scan tool to the vehicle.
Turn key to on position.
Select 1 body,
then select special functions
then select program key fob,
select the number of key fobs you want programed.
Press and hold the lock and unlock key simultaneously for about 15 seconds until the power locks cycle to confirm the remote is programed.

How long and how much is it to make keys for 2001 grand prix.....i got charged $225 for 2 keys!....was 50 for a new key, they reprogrammed my old one and 150 for labor!!!

That's about average from a dealership. Dealerships are the only ones that can program the keys for your car. They're not cheap! :)

turn the key on for 10 minutes or more if you want. then you will see the security light stop blinking, then you turn the key off. you repeat this three times then it should start. Good luck.
somtimes they are quick and easy, and some times you have to do it a couple of times. make sure your battery is charged up.
