Question about 2005 Pontiac Grand Am

My oil light change would not reset on 2005 grand am, already try to reset but i will not do it, why?

Try turning the key to on position & pump the gas pedal to the floor three times. Turn the key off & on again. The light should be out. Good luck! Worked for me!

Oil light with wrench showing on


It seems to be time for an oil change! If you already changed your oil you are going to need to reset the change oil light.


To reset the Change Oil light you will need to turn the ignition key to the open position then back to off 3 times.
After the third time leave it on in the open position then depress the gas pedal to the floor 3 times.
Turn key off and it should now be reset.

The change oil soon light comes on for about 15 minutes then goes out. The oil has already been changed. How do I fix this??


The Reset Procedure Is:
With The Ignition Key In The "on" Position, but The Engine Off, Fully Push And Release The Accelerator Pedal Slowly 3 Times Within 5 Seconds. If The "change Oil" Light Flashes, The System Is Resetting. Turn The Key Off, Then Start The Vehicle.
If The "change Oil" Light Comes Back On, The Light Has Not Reset. Repeat The Procedure.

I have a 2005 pontiac grand am and had my oil changed 1000 miles ago and my "CHANGE OIL" light came on. what could be the problem?


Hello: Whoever changed the oil may not have reset the oil life indicator. Turn key on (engine off) push the accelerator all the way to the floor three times within 5 seconds. That should reset the oil life.

Reset Change Oil light


After oil has been changed or the oil is at the correct level, disconnect the negative battery cable for a couple minutes and plug back in. This should reset the light, if for some odd reason it doesn't, then a scan tool will be needed to reset it.

try and disconnect pos cable wire for about 10 minutes this resets alot of things but you better make sure you have radio code in case radio locks

2005 pontiac grand am


Turn ignition to "ON", slowly press accelerator to the floor three times within five seconds, wait a few seconds and you will hear three tones, the "Change Oil" light will turn off. Turn the ignition to "OFF" and the light will be reset.
