If your car is turbo charged check for a blow-out piece of the high pressure pipe or a loose joint somewhere between the turbo charger and the intake manifold.

There's a vacuum actuated unit bolted to the intake manifold called an Exhaust Recirculation Valve (EGR Valve). Replace the EGR and your vehicle will pull hills just like it should. That's your only problem.

Car advice

If your car has automatic gears , and your problem as if it is going uphill then you obviously have a faulty automatic transmission box , this can be fixed by a competent mechanic but would be better to take it to an auto-mechanic, for a replacement gearbox or it may just be a missaligned gear selector in the gearbox, it will be expensive whatever the problem is ........unless the auto-mechanic is your best buddy..............................Sorry

Top off ATF and re-test.

If filter and ATF is over 2 years old then it is time to change them.

Is the engine light on? If not it could be mechanical. The engine sounds like it is suffocating. This could be because of your catalytic converter, air or fuel filter. Take a look at the vehicles repair/maintenance history and go from there. If the car has over 100k miles then you may need the CAT.
