I need a manuel for a 2001 honda civic lx , 1.7 liter automatic, the maintenance required light is on and it gave a code of 1298 ? eld or something but it seems to be running find . is it ok to still...

if its the maintence light then it will come on to let you know the emission system should be checked to make sure its working properly.if you take it to a shop they can reset the light for you as if there was a problem with the emission system then the check engine light would have come on and there would be a code set in the ecm for the circuit that the problem is in.its safe to drive this just make sure you get the light reset.

My engine light is on so i took an OBD reading and it showed the error codes P0401, P0420 and P0133. What do I need to fix?

P0401 is EGR valve, low circulation detected.
P0420 Catalyst system.
P0133 is O2 sensor bank 1 sensor 1.
All these codes are emissions related, so i would start with the EGR valve, it's probably clogged with carbon. The catalytic converter could be also, check that for excessive backpressure. The oxygen sensor can be tested, replace if needed. Good luck, i hope this helps.

How to turn off check engine light for 2001 Honda Prelude. ??

if you've corrected the problem associated with the code being thrown, it can either clear itself, or, you can unhook the negative battery cable for 10 minutes, sometimes that works, if neither of those work, you can get the code cleared at a dealer on their OBD checker

My check emissions light has come on (2001 accord, ex) checked gas cap - on tight-

The information below was complied by me, it explains what causes the check engine light to come on and the process of finding the cause.
When the Check Engine light is turned on the computer control unit (called the PCM) has sensed a fault in the electronic controls of the engine and/or the emission system. When this happens you will seldom feel the car engine run any different. There are about 200 possible faults that can occur in the system that turn the Check Engine light on, a leaking gas cap is just one of them. To know what has developed a problem you must have the system tested, this is called an OBD2 fault code test, Kragen and Autozone parts stores do this testing for free.

When i start my 2001 civic lx there is a clicking sound coming from the passenger side dash and engine light goes on and off. after it stops the car doesn't run right.

Check engine light usually means a problem with the
emissions control system. At any rate Honda is your
best bet. They will have to hook up and look for fault
codes. Clicking sound could be a relay.

Honda Prelude 2001, 2 codes seem to pop up all the time, P0420 and P0301. What has the to do with the other? Can the Catalytic converter cause a miss fire?

Hello: Sir, the 301 is telling you that you have a mis-fire on cylinder #3, You may have a bad spark plug, or bad wire going to #3 plug or you may have a ignition unit that is not firing #3 cylinder, With the #3 cylinder not firing it caused the 420 code that means the catalytic converter to be below acceptable efficiency for emission standards. Repair the 301 before you replace the converter

Need to find obd in 1990 honda accord

TROUBLE CODES System Diagnosis READING CODES When the "Check Engine'' warning light on the dashboard comes on and stays on, it indicates a problem in the fuel injection/emissions system. Check the ECU for fault codes. On certain models, some codes will not trigger the check engine light; if driveability has suffered, check for stored fault codes. The most common error when using fault codes is to assume the indicated component has failed rather than checking the entire circuit. The presence of a trouble code means simply that the electrical circuit for the named component is not functioning properly. For example, a code for the oxygen sensor circuit does not automatically mean the oxygen sensor has failed. A wire terminal may simply be loose or corroded at the connector. When using diagnostic or fault codes, always remember that the entire circuit including the component must be checked carefully. On 1990-95 Accord (except V-6) and 1992-95 Prelude, the codes are read from the check engine light after the two-wire service connector has been jumpered. On Accords, the service connector is under the dash on the passenger side. On Preludes, it is located behind the center console. Codes 1 through 9 are indicated by a series of short flashes; two-digit codes use a long flash for the first digit followed by the appropriate number of short flashes. For example, Code 14 would be indicated by 1 long flash followed by 4 short flashes. Codes are separated by a pause between displays. Multiple codes are transmitted in an alternating pattern. For example, a code 3 and 14 would be displayed as 3 short flashes (for Code 3) followed by the separator pause, then 1 long flash and 4 short flashes (for Code 14). Fig. 8: On Accords, the service connector is located under the dash on the passenger side 86804049.gif
Fig. 9: The service connector on Preludes is located behind the center console 86804050.gif
  1. Use a jumper wire to connect the two terminals of the service connector together.
  2. Turn the ignition switch ON; the check engine light will display any stored codes by rhythmic flashing. NOTE: In the event that a code is encountered which is not on the chart, re-count the number of flashes. If the code is truly wrong, it will be necessary to swap the ECU for a known-good unit and recheck. Since this can be expensive, you may wish to bring the car to a reputable repair facility if no other cause of the failure can be found. This may save you the expense of purchasing an unnecessary part.
  3. If no codes are displayed but a driveablity problem exits, testing of the system individual components is necessary to find the problem. If codes are displayed, follow the appropriate troubleshooting chart in this section. Fig. 10: Fault code chart for 1990-93 Accords 86804051.gif

Puting vac hoses back on and carberater on a 1984

The engine and emission control system covered by this information operate on a combination of vacuum and electrical signals; they are extremely prone to malfunctions due to improper vacuum connections. If a component does not receive vacuum at the correct time, it cannot function when needed. When working under the hood, pay close attention to the routing and placement of every hose.

is everything stock? and you have catalitic converter in place?

Stop by Schucks auto supply and have them run the codes. i'm sure there is a code if you cant pass emissions. your check engine light bulb is probably out.

and usually the first cause is the first o2 sensor.

I would send the car for a smoke test for the emissions leak...Find out where the leak is comming from..Repair it..Reset the codes, then do a drive cycle and see what happens...
