Question about 2002 Chrysler Concorde

1 Answer

I have a 2002 chrysler concorde limited 3.5 l engine. I have been having problems with it starting. I replaced the battery, the ignition, and the starter. When I go to start it, it just makes a loud clicking sound and doesn't even sound as if it will turn over. It will start however with a jump. My friend suggested maybe the battery doesn't have enough cold crank amps? I gave the dealer my make and model. They gave me a battery with 600 ccamps. Could it be that easy? Please help I have sunk enough money in this car already.

no, not just battery size. The starter should engage. Did you replace the solenoid when you changed the starter? Are the battery terminals clean and tight?

It sounds like a bad connection in all honesty. if you havent replaced terminals do that. any corrosion you should clean check the cables also and see if they are corroded ander neath the coating I have seen terminals that were pretty tight but yet not enough to crank. I truly believe that is where your problem will be found. please let me know.

1994 chrysler concorde cuts off fuel and spark while driving

It's very possible you have a bad ignition switch. My '96 LXi had the same problem, plus it tended to randomly drop into "Limp Mode" at any speed.

After replacing the ignition switch (3 years ago) neither of those problems has resurfaced.

2002 chrysler concorde intermitently will not start. the engine will turn over just fine but with no ignition. If you wait an 30 minutes to an hour it will start up just fine.

could be crank sensor, but also could be fuel pump. you need to know...when it does not start, do you have spark? do you have fuel?
you did not list your engine size, but these are basic. i have worked of concordes quite a bit. i would guess w/oi seeing the car that it would be a crank or cam sensor issue.

How to replace the thermostat on a 2002 chrysler concorde lx 2.7 engine size

The Thermostat is under the connector for the upper radiator hose on the Engine. Trace the upper Radiator hose back to the engine and remove the 2 to 3 bolts holding the engine mounting to the engine. The thermostat is under that. If you don't have the thermostat already you can remove it and replace the cover and drive to the Auto parts store and purchase it then drive back and put the new part in after the engine cools. If you are replacing this because of over heating doing this will tell you if that was truly the problem or if the problem was actually the water pump. Using the vehicle over short distances without the thermostat will not damage your engine in the summer months. It is mainly there for winter months to let the engine warm up before the cooling fluid starts flowing anyway. Heck, I have one vehicle that hasn't had a thermostat in it for 2 years now. Runs great.

1998 Chrysler Concorde 3.2L Intermittent starting problem. Can hear the starter solenoid kick but will not turn over. The starter, battery and cables have been replaced. After replacing the battery today...

Thoroughly check the battery to chassis to engine ground system is properly connected and in good order.
Check/replace any solenoid control relay if fitted -(slave relay interfacing between ignition start sw and starter motor engage solenoid).
Check condition and connections of any fusible link (or in line Maxifuse).
