NY 1996 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi diagnostic trouble codes P0301 and P1441

My 1996 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi won't pass NY emissions inspection because the trouble codes P0301 and P1441 keep coming up.The check engine light has never come on, but it does show up when the car is first started along with the other monitors. The temp, boost, oil gauges sometimes seem to go haywire, too. What repairs need to be done to correct this problem?
Also, what is the exact drive cycle for this car?
I really want to get these fixed because I love the car!

I know what the codes say is happening. I need to know what has to be repaired so these codes will stop coming up and the Pontiac will pass the New York State Emissions Inspection. It passes the safety inspection without any problems.

Isn't there anybody out there that knows how to work on the Pontiac Bonnevilles with the 3800 Series II engine and Supercharger? Please help?????

Hi, the po301 is a misfire on cylinder #1 first one o the front of engine- check spark plug and wire after that is injector and coil for cylinder
the 1441 is evap purge solenoid - under the pcm computer in hood, it is round canister - check the hoses going to it and the wires for damage - try to blow into the hoses - it should be hadr to impossible- if easy, the valve is stuck open and you replace the valve- around 50 bucks from gm

Since it is a 1996, you probably have high miles on it.
Most cars after 100,000 miles or so are automatically set to have the check engine light come on.

Where is the purge solenoid on a 2001 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi

purge solinoids are under hood vent solinoids are by the charcoal tank under the car by gas tank. is this an emissions related repair? 99% its the vent valve as they are open to the envirnment and tend to corrode and malfunction purge under hood will be attached by hose that usualy has green cap inline on it. get the part and match what you are looking at

2000 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi starts and immediately dies; will not run without foot constantly on gas pedal

Well pumping the pedal on a fuel injected car does nothing. If there are no trouble codes stored in the computer, look for excessive fuel from the injectors or the fuel pressure regulator. Or lack of air thru the idle air control valve.

Went for a smog check; failed with trouble codes P0300, P1441 and P1870? What do the codes indicate. I have a 1996 Camaro RS w/ v-6 3800, auto.

P1441 CHEVROLET - Evaporative Emission (EVAP) System Flow During Non-Purge
P0300 - Cylinder Misfire Detected Random Cylinders
Possible causes- Faulty spark plug 1
- Faulty ignition coils
- Ignition coils harness is open or shorted
- Ignition coils poor electrical connection
- Clogged or faulty fuel injectors
- Injectors harness is open or shorted
- Injectors poor electrical connection
- Improper spark plugs
- Insufficient cylinders compression
- Incorrect fuel pressure
- Intake air leak
if you noticed that the closes relation those two have to each other has to do with a leak possible vacuum leak. look for hoses or grommets that are very soft, loose, cut or disconnected. the other code P1870 pertains to a transmission component slipping you should not need that for a smog check to pass

My 2001 pontiac ssei says to service theft system

I would take it to a dealer and have the ignition switch looked at, That is either pass key (pk stamped in key) or pass key 3 (pk3) and the ignition switch is probably having trouble reading to key to disengage the anti theft system, eventually it wont let the car start, and it never happens when your home!

How to clear code service engine soon 2002

you need to use an OBDII scan tool that will read any "error" codes and give you the system that will be causing the check engine light to come on. this tool will also allow you to erase the code after you have read it. write the code down as you may have to pinpoint exactly what part may have failed and needs replacing. something as simple as a loose gas cap will cause the check engine light to come on. it could be any of a dozen different emission or ignition sensors that may be bad depending on the error code. all 1996 and newer vehicles sold in the US will have the OBDII system and standard diagnostic/data link connector, which is usually under the driver side of the dash, to plug the scan tool into to read the DTC's(diagnostic trouble codes).

96 Buick Century can't pass imisions code P1441

P1441, EVAP Emissions System Flow During Non-Purge.
you seem to have an evap problem these problems are hard to diagnose sometimes it can only be the gas cap or maybe rust around the seat of the gaz cap
get the code erase and see if it comes back on and if it does check gas cap and arroung the filling neck if there is rust if no visible rust apears you will have to get it check with smoke to see where it leaks

hope it will help you

Have a great day
