Question about 1988 Chrysler New Yorker
You can't reset, no you can not bypass the filter, it will throw off a check engin light becuase there is a certin pressure reading the fuel must present to the ECU. you gonna have to replace your fuel pump assembly. you should be able to remove your back seat, and a metal panel held by 4-6 scres is located right under the seat. Undo that and you have your fuel pump access. if you can't replace it like that, your gonna have to drop your fuel tank (empty it first) by using a floor jack and a peice of wood to drop your tank. remove the pump assembly carefully and make sure you have the Rail, the pump unit (its a cylider), and the filter on the bottom of the pump, if the filter is missing, fish it out of the tank. Now your best bet is to buy a whole new rail, but if that is not an option, buy the pump, pump filter (not the in-line filter), and wiring harness. If you do not replace that wiring harness expect to burn your fuel pump out, again. unfortunatly any GM and Chrysler vehcle that runs out of gas immediatly burns that fuel pump up.
