You can't reset, no you can not bypass the filter, it will throw off a check engin light becuase there is a certin pressure reading the fuel must present to the ECU. you gonna have to replace your fuel pump assembly. you should be able to remove your back seat, and a metal panel held by 4-6 scres is located right under the seat. Undo that and you have your fuel pump access. if you can't replace it like that, your gonna have to drop your fuel tank (empty it first) by using a floor jack and a peice of wood to drop your tank. remove the pump assembly carefully and make sure you have the Rail, the pump unit (its a cylider), and the filter on the bottom of the pump, if the filter is missing, fish it out of the tank. Now your best bet is to buy a whole new rail, but if that is not an option, buy the pump, pump filter (not the in-line filter), and wiring harness. If you do not replace that wiring harness expect to burn your fuel pump out, again. unfortunatly any GM and Chrysler vehcle that runs out of gas immediatly burns that fuel pump up.

92Ford pickup wont start unless you pour gas in intake then it will start and run but cant accelerate real fast have to gradually ease into it how come

It isn't getting fuel in two separate scenarios. First replace the fuel filter if you haven't already done so and check for water in the gas by draining fuel from the filter input port into a clear jar. If you have water in the gas it will swell up the filter material and clog it. Secondly check to see that the fuel pump is working properly. Third, there is a bypass wire to run the fuel pump when the starter is engaged that may have a blown fuse or bad ignition switch contact. Fourth, there is a cold idle enrichment system that may not be working correctly. Check for loose or broken vacuum hoses at the throttle body and follow all vacuum hosed to check all along the way and both end connnections.

Car doesn't seem to get enough gas to engine

Have you done a tune lately on the car?
I would also suspect a fuel pump problem is you've done a tune up recently.

How to fix a1998 buick century to start fuel filter new and airfilter turning over but not starting gets gas

Did you check for spark? It sounds like you're not getting spark. Check for spark. If you are not getting spark then it sounds like you might have to replace the coil packs. Is it running a L4 engine? If its running a standard chevy L4 its probably the coil packs. Try to replace them check again for spark.

My charcoal canister in the back of the car busted the vaccum lines got clogged i replace the canister, evap bypass valve, the line that runs from the back to the fron that connects to a little round filter...

have you cleared the codes? then see if they come back.

When you fill with gasoline and the pump clicks off, DO NOT keep pumping trying to get another $.50 of gas. This is what causes liquid gas to enter the charcoal canister and ruin it, it was designed for gasoline vapor recovery.

I have a 1979 fiat spyder 2000 and i am having problems. it seems once the engine warms up, usually 5-7 miles down the road, it starts missing. i push down on the gas and the engine shakes, spits, and...

It sounds like the air bypass valve is not closing after warmup and this sounds like a temperature related problem. Air bypass is used much like the old choke on carburated cars for cold starts.

No/Low Fuel Pressure after replacing in-tank fuel pump & filter

Need to have the fuel pressure checked at fuel rail to know for sure if there is a fuel pressure problem for sure. There may be a in line filter as well, you can also do a check of the pressure regulator by pulling the vacuum line off of it then try starting the car with it off and see if it runs, if it does the regulator is bad, but IF it doesnt run doesnt necessarly mean it is good, a lot of fuel filters have a bypass wich allows the gas to bypass the filter when it is full bad thing is the debris can then plug the injectors causing problems, or there could be a loss of signal to tell the injectors to give fuel to the cylinders from an electrical or a sensor failure. So it is best to test the pressure to know for sure if it is in the fuel line or the injectors if it is truly being starved of gas. hope this helps

Are you sure that bypassing the fuel filter will solve that problem? I would not recommending doing so. If you bypass the filter then any trash coming in through the fuel will clog the injection ports. And then the car will absolutely not run. Cleaning injection ports are mighty expensive. If you suspect trash coming into the fuel, purchase a few fuel filters... about three. They are not expensive and are realitively easy to replace. If a new fuel filter helps the car run, then great! Just replace it again when the car starts stalling. Eventually, all trash from the fuel will be filtered out.

However, I do not think that a simple filter would effect the idling of the car. The idle can be adjusted, though I do not know how on your specific car. Also, you may have a faulty throttle position sensor.
