Filter is on top of the fuel tank... Tank can be lowered down and the filter is bolted to the left rear tank ******** top.

Stratus plug wires go bad to.. Pull a few out and see if they look bad.

Ran completely out of gas last week - put gas in - car started fine- ran a little rough and idled rough. Now 10 days later MIL light on in dash and perform service message. Won't go out after several

have the fuel filter changed and have the computer checked for codes incase something else is going on and they can be cleared to turn off the light.any dirt in the lines should be out of them by now.its possible that there is dirt in the injectors and a fuel system service should be done to clean them which is a recomended service on all cars anyways.you can have the fuel pressure checked while its in the shop to make sure the pressure is within specs.

Starves for gas after it warms up

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. Your fuel filter may be clogged. If it has a rough idle, you could have a vacuum leak. You need to check all your hoses and check for a leak. Make sure your air filter is no clogged as well. If the problem is just at idle, you may need a new idle control sensor. If you haven't had a tune up in a long time, I would advise you to change your spark plugs, coils, wires, distributor cap, or coil pack. You could also have a fuel pump going out. You need to check the fuel pressure. Your owner manual should tell you what is the correct pressure. If it is off, change the fuel filter, If it is right, do the tune up. If you have a check engine light on, take it to Autozone to have it scanned. This way, you know what to change. If you don't, check your fuel pressure. Make sure gas is coming to the fuel filter and going through it. If the fuel checks out, change the plugs/coils and wires.

After unusual below freezing weather here in california my 94 prizm is idling really rough and sputters in gear what might be the problem

Sounds like water in the gas. Colder temperatures can lead to condensation in the gas tank. Water then enters the fuel line, causing sputtering, rough idle, and occasional stalling. Try a bottle of Dri-Gas or other similar product with your next fill up. If the problem persists, you may need to change your fuel filter.

Idles runs really rough can smell fuel

1. Could be changing the fuel filter
2. Leaking injector
3. The gas cap (tank gas input) is clogged - Gas tank does need some air
4. Pressure check you gas line - should be in the 20s and hold steady for hours. Could be slow leak

Need to know location of fuel pump in a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The fuel pump will be located inside your gas tank which will require you to remove the straps and to drop the tank down... The filter depending on the car, will either be inside the fuel tank, or outside of it near the front of the tank.

Other issues that may cause bad idling would be a bad TPS or EGR
