Question about Suzuki Verona

1 Answer

2005 Suzuki Verona, The car sometimes hard to get out of park, but if you step on the break paddle you will hear a little click and then it will come out of park. What part can cause this problem?

That is the brake light safety switch you hear making that noise. When you press it down it sends a signal that allows you to shift the car out of park. This is installed on most newer vehicles to prevent a kid from moving the car out of gear when it is parked. Click on the link below to view the replacement part you will need.

2005 suzuki verona will not properly shift into park. The shifter goes in just fine but the electronic display shows p,r,n,d overlaid ontop of one another and the tranny is in neutral. Any ideas?

Have the codes read. I would go after the cable and switch first. Disconnect the cable and set the arm in park. If it is in park and the dash reads it. replace the cable. If you do this and still in neutral, go after the switch.

Where is the transmission plug on a 2005 suzuki verona

A/T ?
did the operators guide tell you that it needs to be checked.
lost the guide and just guessing, or at 200k and worried , sure.
doing the 100k mile service point?
did you look first>?
if there is no dip tube, as is common on most newer cars then
its only covered in the FSM. (special tools and steps)
looking always works , look at trans, with eyes, no tube, then
there is no tube.
suzuki is DOA< or Chapter 11 , in N.American and Canada
so there is no online page ,that lists 10 years of operators guides
try here first

$4 , oper guide, is there a page that shows the owner of car checking
the ATF fluids> , if yes, then there, you go.
if not , then this is now moved, to the FSM> seen below the guide book
same page.

getting hands on a guide for free, is very hard for suzuki
they are chapter 11 here.

How do i shift out of park with shift lock on 2005 suzuki verona?

Other Suzuki's (older/different models) have a small panel on the driver's side of the console next to the shifter. It is normally held on by a small Philips screw. Remove it to access a lever with your finger. to release the brake shift lock safety interlock.

I am assuming this will work with your 2005 Suzuki Verona.

How do i fix the brake lights and and fix the shift lock on my 05 suzuki verona so i can shift out of park?

replace brake fuse. or it will never unlock.
some have a bybass near lever, read operators guide yet?

you step on brake, the lamps glow
the 12vdc power to brakes go to the unlock device and it unlocks.
so if brake lights are dead so must lock.

Bit of a loaded question, however, is the check engine light on?

If so, list the code. You can get the code for free from Advance Auto or Autozone, although, it's just a code to get going in the right direction.

Could be a variety of problems. Could be the transmission range sensor (because the Verona uses the same sensor as the Forenza and the Reno and is a very common issue) or something more serious, such as a failing transmission.

I hate to say it, but, on something like this, I'd drop a few bucks to have it diagnosed by a reputable shop. $70 in diagnoses could save you more if you were to just try to swapping out parts. Plus, any repair shop should be willing to roll that $70 into the repair should you choose to repair it instead of just making it extra.

I have a 2005 suzuki verona, the key sometimes seem to lock and will not turn and you might not have this problem for a couple days. I trying to figure out if it is the ignition switch or the ignition...

It seems that the springs in the ignition key receiver are getting loose. If not replaced sometimes the key will not come out at all, to make matters worse. This replacement will most likely be done by a machanic or dealer. The key always sticks at a akward place. Take it from me - Please replace
