Sounds like a blower motor resistor and not the switch. The resistor is mounted near the blower motor. the resistor has four resistors in it that drop the voltage to control the blower speed. It sounds like the resistor for speed 2 has burned out. This resistor is used by speed two and by speed one. If it burns out speed one will not work also. Since the higher speeds do not need the speed 2 resistor they continue to work.

SOURCE: Heater/ac switch speeds 1 and 2 don not work in 99 Silverado

you need a resister found under your air duct by the passenger floor under dash board auto zone sells these for about 25.00 you may as well buy cabin air filters while your at it . 1 of the screws will be a pain to install back into the duct work I left mine out didn,t make a difference . you might have to order it as they are a comman item oh you will need a vacuum to clean up mess from cabin air filters .this is not a hard job .

SOURCE: 2004 Dodge Dakota Heater fan motor will not run on low speed. All

Your blower resistor may be wearing out or corrosion setting in. The part is cheap and you can probably replace it. This link shows where an 01 is located. Yours may be in the same spot on on the engine bay side of the passenger firewall. Check with your auto parts store also for location.

3 speed fan barely changes speed

You are talking about your blower fan for the air conditioner and heater right? More information will be needed to solve the problem.

When you say it barely changes speeds, does that mean it doesnt speed up, or doesnt slow down? By that I mean, is it "stuck" on low, or high?

Most blower fans run at different speeds through the use of a multi-stage resistor built into the fan switch circuit. Low speed is a high value resistor, medium speed is a low value one, and high speed is the fan running without any resistance.

If your fan is running on high and doesnt seem to want to run on lower speeds, the resistor pack may be failing. If the fan is running on low speed only, it may be that the fan itself is beginning to fail, or that the lubricant in it has gotten gummy.

BWM heater problems--display and switches working but no fan

your fan speed regulator located on your heater core box is bad if its just one or some of the speeds. if the fan does not work at all its either a bad connection to your fan speed regulator or the fan motor has quit. out

Hello my 2002 mazda tribute heater fan is only working on low or high the settings in between are not functioning?

Its probable that if youre using no 2 and 3 and not 1 or 4 thats its worn out on these settings and you will need to replace the switch, its not the fan (obviously)and it does change speed so its not the resister, really looks like the switch needs checking and or replacing

Heat/AC Blower fan speed only works on High

Alot of people have the same problem with the fan switch and blown bulbs. There really is no fix for this. Jeep really screwed up when designing the heater control assembly. The cheapest solution is to buy another unit off Ebay. Can always go to the dealer but be ready to PAY for there mistakes.

Heater fan motor wont run on high

Check or have checked the blower motor resistor. This is usually how they act.
