Question about BMW 750

Hi, It seen like can run the vehicle for 15 mins then I turn out the bleder screw on the top of the rad I get lots of bubbles and steam coming out. it seen like a air lock. can t figure it out need help. Its an 1996 bmw 740il

Sorry almost certainly your head Gasket, sound like a break between a cylinder and the water jacket - hence the bubbles.

Just did my 95 525i. Most importantly, make sure all of the air is out, then tighten the bleeder. Let it run. If the reservoir is over flowing than it's over full. Keep an eye on the temp. gauge for bout 15 min. If it goes over normal operating temp. you still have air in the radiator and need too bleed more.

I have a 2006 ford escape limited 4 wheel drive the water pump went out and now i need to know how to bleed the air out of the cooling system?


just run the car with the rad cap or resavoir cap if no rad cap off and continue topping up until no more bubbles come out. reving the car up to about 2000rpm will speed up the prosess because the pump will circulate the coolant faster. then when level doesn't go down and no more bubbles place the cap back on. If there is a small screw valve on top of the thermostat housing unscrew until air stops coming out and a steady stream of water is seen. tighten and enjoy

Hi,
If you are not seeing any leaks, most likely air in the coolant system, improper/weak coolant mixture, bad radiator cap, bad thermostat. Sounds more like the air and/or weak coolant to me.

It is a 3.4 liter an i have replaced the raditor an theromastat an put right amount of fuilds in it an have sealed everything right but i still have a problem with it overheating


With the engine cold remove the radiator/reservoir cap. Smell the coolant. Does it smell like exhaust? If it does you probably have the beginnings of a bad head gasket. Not uncommon for the 3.4 liter.

Another thing you can do is let it idle with the cap removed. If you constantly see bubbles coming out of the coolant than you have another sign of a bad head gasket.

sounds more like a possible heater core issue the heater core is what heats your car by the fan blowing over it and through tour vents ! find the 2 hoses that come out of your firewall on the back side of the engine compartment . run vehicle for 10 to 15 min and see if both of the hoses are hot if one is hot and one is cold heater core is plugged. if both hot have a diff problem. start hear first !!

First check for the rad fan working. It could be the Fan relay, bad ground connection or coolant temp sensor (commands the fan relay). If not, check for little tiny bubbles in the coolant. Do this by running the vehicle with the rad cap off. Make sure there is no pressure in the cooling system first or you will get burned (squeeze rad hose, should be cool and easy to squeeze). Look into the top of the rad and watch for these tiny little bubbles. If they are present, you will need a head gasket.

if you have a rad cap open it and check your coolant level. if it is low fill the rad and leave cap off while you then put the recovery resorvoir at the proper cold level. Move your way along to the thermostat and look for a screw and nut at the top of the housing. If there is one then this is the highest point of the coolant in your vehicle and you will bleed it by opening this hole and running your engine until only coolant flows from the exposed hole. Do not remove the screw just turn it until the hole in the side is revealed. I basically almost remove the screw (till it kind of wobbles) and then turn it back in til it stable (like 1 turn). Be sure that the coolant is flowing without bubbles(air) and not just kinda trickling with short pauses.
If the housing for the thernostat is lower than the rad cap then you bleed it through the rad. Wait for the thernostat to open and the level to go down and then refill it and watch to see no more bubbles (air) escaping. Once the vehicle gets hot you may have to wait for the engine to cool(ie) turn it off for a while and redo it. Also if you are using the thermostat bleed hole be sure to put the rad cap back on before you start the bleed process and keep your eye on the coolant resorvoir adding coolant as needed so you dont **** more air into the engine.

that's the problem
yes, you have to take the coolant filling cap off " expansion tank cap "
turn your car on for at least an hour
the bmw line has a very bad problem wich is " bubbles " inside your water system
you have to have your car inclined and running without the cap so he can bleed all the bubbles out.
sorry you spent all that money but after you replaced the radiator all you had to do was that, to get rid of bubbles.

so, do this. park your car on an incline position, engine up.
remove the cap. let it run for at least an hour.
refill as needed " coolant "
do that the following morning and for last refill the collant as needed.
problem should desapear.
