Question about Suzuki Grand Vitara

My clutch needs replacing on my 2007 Grand Vitara after only 16000 miles. Suzuki Corp says if slave cylinder is the problem, it will be covered on warranty. I want this repair to be paid by Suzuki whatever the clutch problem because why in the world would a clutch go at 16000 miles? Normal is 60000-100000 miles. This seems to be a design or assembly issue. Feedback appreciated!

    the problem with the new master is the rod is too short and needs an extention welded on TRUST ME I went thru it

Hi, it's quite strange to have clutch worn out after 16,000 miles which means that it is an assemble issue. You have to call Suzuki again and request to talk to their manager or technical head in charge of servicing and explain to them what the problem is, and i believe you will be given a fair hearing on this and the will fix the clutch without you paying a dime.

2000 Suzuki Grand Vitara. 5 speed. clutch is pressed in vehicle still in gear have to shift to neutral at stop lights. Have to shut vehicle off to get in gear. Is this a clutch or cylinder prob!Em?


The fact that you have to switch off to get it into gear suggests a cylinder problem.

Check that the cylinder isn't leaking (and there's fluid in the reservoir..).

Clutch cylinders aren't overly expensive:

... and if you hunt around you may even find an overhaul kit which is even cheaper.

all car ran fine yesterday, only now counts.
the clutch slave actuator system is bad.
its just 2 parts, a master cylinder and the slave.
most times the slave fails first.
the fluid leaks out
then the MC goes dry
putting the DOT-3/4 fluid back dont fix that, in 2 ways.
1: the fuild will just leak out again, slave seals are bad.
2: and you most bleed the system, just like brakes. or it will never work.
the FSM book covers all this. in the clutch chapter. need that?
the factory service manual
suzuki wants near $400 now for these parts. a total freakn RIP.
so use rockauto to get the parts, or NAPA auto.

if flush with cash , replace both MC and slave
it not look at the fire wall, see that MC, is either side of fire wall
at MC shows signs of fluid leaks, Bingo it's bad.
ok replace the slave.

i spun the wheel of fortune , and landed in 2.0L Gas engine
and found the bad news. this motor uses a coaxial. slave cylinder.
the engine must be separated from the trans, to get to it.
replace the master cylinder first and pray it's not mr. Coax
the silly suzuki online store has no photos of this engine or trans.
just words, pathetic, as per suzuki usual.

I have a 2000 suzuki grand vitara that has a problem going int gear


check and bleed the clutch system at the slave cylinder and if that dose not improve the clutch operation then replace the master cylinder. If the system is cable operated then replace the cable. If you have removed the clutch to replace it then the clutch plate is probably in the wrong way round and the centre is hitting on the flywheel bolts.

or are you saying you want the inside
MC/and slave.
you want the internal rebuilt kits.

well dang, suzuki sell them
and so does rockauto dot com.
finding an open parts counter , here, for suz, is problematic
chapter 11 they are.....

btw my GV has a plastic, Slave there are no rebuilds for those.
only Alum. MC.

New clutch master cylinder new slave cylinder new release fork and bearing new clutch, have bled three bottles through the system and still not enough movement at the slave cylinder to release clutch


Hi,
You need to check that you are actually getting the full length of stroke from the master cylinder.
If you are then you still a captive air pocket in the master cylinder and the only way to get rid of it is to vacum bleed the system from the master cylinder to the slave cylinder.
Check these and let me know, I can give you further information.

A clutch I would think,is like brake pads or filters,they are not covered and are considered expendable.
The vehicle is 3 or 4 years old also.
I understand your issues, I would suggest you move on, and forget the Mfg or Dealer,they won't stop the world for you, or common sense.

How to bleed slave cylinder for 1997 suzuki sidekick


Hi if the sidekick is the same as the uk vitara then they don't have a slave cylinder just a clutch cable with a nut near the end to adjust it. If its like a grand vitara they have got a slave cylinder, just crack the bleed nipple off put one end of a small pipe on the end of the nipple and drop the other end in a bottle that is roughly half full of break and clutch fluid, ask someone to pump the clutch pedal until no more air bubbles are coming out then tighten the bleed nipple back up. make sure to keep a check on brake fluid levels while doing this.

Problems with clutch master cylinder on a suzuki grand vitara 2007 after replacing clutch master cylinder was ok for 6 weeks now no clutch pedal again!


I too am having problems with my 2006 GV clutch master cylinder. I noticed gradually over several weeks the gears and clutch pedal were degenerating and then the cluth gave completely. My mechanic took a look around and said the cylinder is the cheapest one he has ever seen, it's just a piece of plastic apparently! Is going to hopefully get the part this week or next, though he said as it's such a cheap and nasty part its likely it will happen again in the future. Not happy!

no doubt your clutch has gone again, possibly the slave cylinder.
